Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin made a graceful appearance on the red carpet, accompanied by a cane, amidst her ongoing battle with undisclosed health challenges affecting her mobility.
The 41-year-old “True Blood” alum radiated joy at a prestigious event held at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City on Wednesday night.
Paquin, alongside her husband, actor Stephen Moyer, 54, showcased their unity as they attended to promote their latest film, “A Bit of Light.”
Paquin exuded elegance in a sequined black dress adorned with pointed shoulder pads, complemented by black tights and heeled leather boots. Her sleek, dark hair was fashioned into a sophisticated bun for the occasion.
Moyer chose an all-black ensemble, comprising a suit, shirt, and tie, echoing Paquin’s classic aesthetic.
Despite grappling with her health challenges and leaning on a cane for support, Paquin maintained a positive demeanor throughout the event.
“It hasn’t been easy,” she told of her mobility issues and experiencing difficulties with her speech.
Elsewhere, Paquin expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue her work during this challenging period.
:My first love was independent filmmaking,” Paquin said, who is the second youngest Oscar winner after winning the gong at age 11 for her role in “The Piano.”
“That’s how I entered the film industry. I was working with people who were all about telling stories and telling them with integrity and truth,” she continued.
A source informed the outlet that Paquin is anticipated to achieve a complete recovery.
The “X-Men” actress also expressed gratitude for her husband’s unwavering support.
“He’s my favorite person to play with,” she said of Moyer, who directed the pair’s latest project. “I’m not sentimental when it comes to work.”
Paquin’s presence on the red carpet marked her first appearance since October 2022 when she attended the Raindance Film Festival.
The couple, married since 2010, shares pride in their roles as parents to 11-year-old twins, Charlie and Poppy.
While they usually prefer privacy, Moyer frequently showers his wife with affectionate posts on social media.
In August, the director commemorated their 13th wedding anniversary with a touching Instagram tribute.
Moyer wrote,
“The good lady thespian/producer/all round badass ‘er indoors, and myself have been married 13 years!! I forgot to post about it Monday cos, ya know, we were kinda busy.”
“Thanks to everyone who remembered & sent messages.. And to those who didn’t remember don’t worry we almost forgot too,” he concluded.
