In an exciting development for fans, it has been officially announced that Sakaku Hishikawa’s fantasy light novel series, “The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows,” is set to receive a television anime adaptation.
The announcement preview video has been released on Shochiku’s official anime YouTube channel, stirring anticipation among enthusiasts.
The captivating novel, serialized on the Japanese self-publishing website Shousetsuka ni Narou since November 2020, has garnered immense popularity.
Its print edition, published by SB Creative’s GA Novel imprint since October 2021, has been met with acclaim, with over 200,000 copies in circulation to date.
The series has also spawned a manga adaptation illustrated by Ten Junoichi, with the simultaneous release of the novel’s latest sixth volume and the third volume of the manga scheduled for March 15 in Japan.
J-Novel Club, responsible for licensing the English edition of both the novel series and its manga adaptation, provides a glimpse into the narrative:
“Life hasn’t been kind to Zenos. He was born in the slums, and his dirt-poor background has denied him almost every opportunity.”
The story unfolds as Zenos, after encountering a healer, endeavors to become one himself. Despite setbacks, he joins an adventurer’s party only to face rejection later.
Undeterred, Zenos utilizes his skills, opening an underground clinic that gains recognition for its magical healing abilities. The narrative raises questions of resilience in the face of adversity and the pursuit of a meaningful existence.
The author, Sakaku Hishikawa, expressed gratitude for the support, remarking on the unexpected journey from a mere idea to a published novel, manga, and now an anime adaptation.
