President Joe Biden delivered a passionate State of the Union address, accusing Donald Trump of undermining democracy, aligning with Russia, and obstructing immigration reform.
In his 68-minute speech to Congress, Biden highlighted the sharp contrasts between his Democratic agenda and his Republican predecessor’s policies, drawing attention not only to his proposals but also to his performance.
Biden criticized Trump for downplaying the January 6 Capitol riot, cozying up to Vladimir Putin, and blocking immigration legislation. He also addressed the conflict in the Middle East, advocating for a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel while cautioning against using aid to Gaza as a bargaining tool.
Although he did not mention Trump by name, Biden’s speech predominantly focused on his predecessor’s actions and policies.
The President emphasized the threat to democracy both domestically and internationally, calling out Trump’s invitation to Putin to invade NATO nations lacking defense spending. He assured support for Ukraine and asserted resilience against Russian aggression.
In response, Trump criticized Biden’s stance on Russia and immigration on the social media platform Truth Social. Biden’s speech provided a platform to communicate his re-election vision directly to the American people, tackling issues such as abortion rights, the economy, and healthcare.
