Australian comedian Hamish Blake recently underwent emergency surgery, revealing via his Instagram Stories that he had a surgical procedure to remove skin cancer from his forehead.
The 42-year-old shared close-up photos of his new scar and the five stitches he received, stating he will have the other side treated in a few weeks.
Blake clarified in the caption that the other side of his forehead is “not really” going to be operated on, as reported.
“This is my reminder to anyone who needs it (i.e. everyone) to get your skin checked every six months,” he continued.
The Lego Masters Australia host later reassured everyone that “everything totally [is] fine,” expressing gratitude that the skin cancer was caught early.
Before his emergency surgery, the avid cyclist had shared on Instagram his participation in a multisport race on the South Island of New Zealand in mid-February.
He detailed biking, running, and paddling “over 2 days to get from one side of the country to the other,” confessing that he embarked on the challenge because:
“it sounded like exactly the kind of thing [he] couldn’t do, which sometimes [he] thinks is a great reason you should have a go.”
“It beat us up pretty good but my god was it beautiful while it did it, and has gifted us a lifetime of memories,” wrote Blake. “And a big thanks to my knees who are shitty at me still and have requested a transfer to another body but I know we’ll laugh about it one day,” he jokingly concluded.
