Had Alan Ritchson, the star of Reacher, not blown off an audition for a big Phase 1 Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero back in the early 2010s, his career might have turned out quite differently. In an interview with Men’s Health, Ritchson disclosed that he had tried out for the lead part in the 2011 Marvel Studios film Thor.
He remarked, “I didn’t take it seriously.” “I was like, ‘They’ll throw me the part if I look like the guy; nobody cares about acting.'” The actor claims that following the audition, he was informed that he had lost the part but had failed to convince Marvel that he possessed “the craft.”
Chris Hemsworth ultimately won the role of Thor Odinson, and Ritchson went on to play another superhero in the DC series Titans, Hank Hall/Hawk.
Alan Ritchson should play Batman, according to DC fans
In addition to Hawk on Titans, Ritchson had several cameos as Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the beloved Smallville prequel series, which ran from 2005 to 2010. In the live-action/CG Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films, produced by Michael Bay, he also portrayed Raphael (2014–16).
Even though he has played three different heroic roles, the comic book community still wants to see him take on a new role. For example, there is a growing movement among DC fans to cast Ritchson as Bruce Wayne/Batman in James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe, starting with the film The Brave and the Bold.
Given that Damian Wayne, the son of Batman, will be introduced in Gunn’s DCU, Ritchson’s age of 41 would make him a good fit for the part. “The fact that people are interested in me playing Batman is a real honour and privilege,” Ritchson stated in response to a recent question on whether he would be interested in donning the iconic cape and cowl for Gunn.
One of my favourite childhood characters is still the large, long pistol that the Joker pulled out of his pants as he prepared to fire down the Batplane.” He went on, “I would like to. It would be my utmost pleasure to. It’s among the greatest personalities ever created.”
Apart from his long-term first-look film agreement with Amazon MGM Studios, Ritchson has initiated work on a follow-up comedy series to his well-liked Blue Mountain State, which aired on Spike for three seasons in 2010 and 2011.
In the follow-up series, Ritchson is expected to play the prominent football player Kevin “Thad” Castle once more. Darin Brooks and Chris Romano, who play quarterback Alex Moran and club mascot Sampson “Sammy” Cacciatore, respectively, have also been confirmed to return. At this point, neither the plot nor the potential direction of the show has been disclosed.
