The Ted prequel comedy by Seth MacFarlane has not yet received a second season renewal from Peacock, but given how well the show has been performing for the streamer, it would seem sense to do so.
The Ted prequel series, which is set in 1993, centres on 16-year-old John Bennett, who goes to high school with his talking teddy bear.
Ted and John face several challenges during their junior year, including drug use, bullying, pornography, and a professor at a college who has a sexual attraction to teddy bears.
Ted’s destiny is still unknown because Peacock has not yet decided whether to extend the show for a second season, but given the show’s viewership, it would seem like a simple choice.
Even by Peacock’s standards, Ted has been doing incredibly well, although the streamer has yet to reveal the details of season 2. The series has been available for streaming since January 11, so the renewal seems certain, but Peacock is taking its time to announce it.
Peacock Has To Renew Its Ted Prequel Show After Looking At The Streaming Numbers
The Ted prequel show was watched for an astounding 542 million minutes during the week of its debut. That’s a remarkable amount considering that the first season just has seven episodes.
By the standards of Netflix or Prime Video, those viewing numbers would be considered successful, but it’s especially noteworthy for a smaller streaming service like Peacock.
It would make sense for Peacock to extend the Ted prequel series for a second season, given its current popularity, which has made it the streaming service’s first true success show. The Ted prequel series is begging for a second season, but Peacock is reportedly still unsure about whether to continue it.
As Ted and John expressed excitement for their senior year of high school in the Ted season finale, at least one more season of the program is required to see them graduate.
The ongoing arguments between John’s progressive cousin Blaire and his narrow-minded conservative father Matty have countless hilarious possibilities, and Dennis the Dump Truck will eventually make a reappearance.
The Ted prequel series seems to be just getting started, with only seven episodes in its first season. Ted still has at least one more season left, considering how long MacFarlane’s other family comedy have been running.
Reluctantly, Matty and Blaire became closer during the season, with John starting a promising romance at the end of the first season. For these plots and character arcs to continue and for a deeper examination of the tensions within the family, Ted needs a second season.
