In Boise, Idaho, a privately owned hangar under construction collapsed, resulting in three fatalities and nine injuries. The incident occurred on the edge of Boise Airport’s airfield, with a subsequent investigation underway to determine the cause of the catastrophic collapse. Boise Fire Department’s Operations Chief, Aaron Hummel, described it as a “fairly catastrophic” global event. Of the nine survivors, five are in critical condition and receiving care at local hospitals.
The construction was not associated with the city, and Boise Airport operations remained unaffected. First responders managed to secure and rescue victims, ensuring everyone in the area was accounted for. The names of the deceased and injured have not been released, pending further investigation.
Rebecca Hupp, the airport director, clarified during a news conference that the construction was not part of an airport project. Boise police are assisting with family reunification. The incident caused traffic issues near the airport on I-84, prompting the Idaho State Police to urge motorists to exercise caution in the area.
