On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday, the 51-year-old, Sofia Vergara stated she has a preference for dating individuals within a two-year age difference.
During a conversation about Bad Bunny mentioning her in the track “Monaco,” the actress disclosed her reaction, confessing she was surprised and even tossed her phone upon learning about the shout-out from the 29-year-old rapper. Another guest, Alexia Nepola, added, “And by the way, he’s single!”
The inquiry about dating Bad Bunny led to a lighthearted exchange, with The Real Housewives of Miami star posing the question. Vergara playfully replied, “Well, let’s not go crazy. He is younger than my son Manolo. Manolo is 32,” emphasizing the age difference.
Host Cohen, 56, inquired if the rule was that potential partners shouldn’t be younger than Vergara’s son.
Nepola, also 56, concurred, stating, “For me, that’s always been the rule.” However, the Griselda star added her twist, saying, “To me, they can’t be younger than 50; I’m 51.”
Cohen asked, “Really?” to which she humorously clarified, “Okay, 49,” with a laugh and the remark, “I’m intelligent.”
Cohen joked, “Wow, I’m screwed by that rule.” Vergara, whose estranged husband Joe Manganiello is 47, shared more about Bad Bunny mentioning her on WWHL, revealing it was a pleasant surprise. “I didn’t know he was going to do it,” expressed the Modern Family alum. “It was super exciting. I love him.”
In “Monaco,” part of his fifth studio album, Bad Bunny praises Vergara’s beauty, singing, “Sofía Vergara is beautiful, but she is more beautiful in person.”
In October, Vergara acknowledged the singer’s affection on Instagram, posting a clip from the music video with the caption, “You’re more beautiful.”
In a recent interview with Spanish newspaper El País, Vergara discussed her separation from Manganiello, disclosing that they had divergent views on expanding their family.
Vergara shared insight into her marriage, attributing its breakdown to a divergence in desires. She explained, “My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
Continuing, Vergara expressed, “I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children.”
She added, “I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things. When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while, and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do.”
In November, Vergara was seen on multiple dinner dates with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman. The duo was initially photographed together the prior month during dinner at an Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills, coinciding with Kim Kardashian’s birthday celebrations.
