After the assassination of Queen Amel, the entire kingdom has been left in a state of panic as everyone has started pointing fingers at each other to find the true culprit behind this crime.
The most recent suspect for the crime is Roygar, but Gregor has decided to let him off the hook for the time being while Duke Riagan has been given a death sentence with the entire House Riagan being dissolved. Find out what happens next in The Villainess Lives Twice Chapter 176!
The Villainess Lives Twice Chapter 175 opens up with Roygar meeting up with Gregor in the Kratez Imperial palace. Roygar bows down before His Majesty and greets him by calling him the “sun of the empire”. Gregor asks Roygar if he’s okay after such a long and difficult journey, but Roygar argues that nothing is difficult for him if the King asks him to do it.
Recap
Gregor says that he called Roygar to meet him in person because he thought that it was the most appropriate way to meet an envoy Gregor adds that he is also aware that Roygar won’t admit his failure in front of others so an unofficial meeting would sort that out too.
Roygar apologizes because he doesn’t understand why he’s being bombarded with allegations so suddenly. Roygar wonders what Cardriol wrote in his letter and how much he revealed.
Roygar also becomes furious because if Cardriol tried to Meddle with his political status then it would become an issue when he ascended the throne.
Roygar thinks that the safest approach would be to divert the attention towards Cardriol so that his empire would be safe from suspicion.
Gregor tells Roygar that Cardriol wrote in his letter that King Amel was responsible for the assassination of the queen. Gregor then looks towards Roygar and asks him if he thinks that this is an act of rebellion.
Gregor also asks Roygar if he also believes that the King was responsible for the queen’s murder. Roygar hesitantly smiles and says that when he arrives in Amel’s kingdom he finds that Cardriol has already assembled an army so even he doesn’t know the true identity of the assassin behind the queen’s death.
Roygar says that he believes this was a mere political gesture to rein Prince Cardriol in. Suddenly a voice comes from behind Roygar which claims that the culprit is either the King or Prince Cardriol.
The Man in the Back further adds that Queen Amel was involved in a major scandal such as the salt business so it is nearly impossible to consider her assassination as a mere family dispute.
Roygar turns around and asks the Man to further explain his point. The Man, Emperor’s Investigator Ferguson, explains that the people of House Riagan claimed that they had no personal grudge against the queen so there’s no reason for them to assassinate her. Ferguson further adds that brawls between business partners are common and these brawls even turn into murders at times.
Gregor says that if House Riagan was responsible for the murder then why would they hire an assassin under their name? Ferguson replies that there are many foolish killers out there and so the murder could have been done by someone under Duke Riagan’s command or by someone who’s trying to enter the salt business.
Roygar gets furious because Ferguson is indirectly accusing him of the murder. Ferguson smirks seeing Roygar in rage and then he asks Roygar why he didn’t provide information to the House Riagan when they asked him to exonerate them from the accusations surrounding Queen Amel’s death.
Roygar gets even more furious at such blatant accusations and so he tells Ferguson that he has no right to question him. Gregor also intervenes and asks Ferguson not to make unfounded comments about Roygar. Ferguson immediately apologizes for his rude behavior.
Ferguson then asks Gregor how he should deal with Duke Riagan, but Gregor chooses to stay silent because he doesn’t even want to talk about him. Gregor thinks that he can’t even be disappointed because he chose Duke Riagan for the sole reason of his pettiness.
Gregor orders Ferguson to hang Duke Riagan as a punishment for deceiving the Emperor. As for the kids, Gregor orders that they will be given new names when they turn 10, and then they will be sent to a monastery in the West.
Gregor remembers that Cedric is also standing right outside his room, and so he feels relieved that if any children of House Riagan harbor any hatred for him, then he can just deal with them in the future.
