YG made a big announcement by removing BIGBANG from their website. BIGBANG is one of the original gangs that made what K-POP is today. The BIGBANG consisted of 5 members, but currently, they have Daesung, Taeyang, and G-Dragon after Seungri’s crimes and T.O.P.’s exit.
Many fans think that BIGBANG helped make YG Entertainment the company it is today with its popularity and success. In June 2023, after the expiry of the contract of G-Dragon, none of the other members stayed under the group.
This has happened previously, and often, like with BLACKPINK, the members may sign with a different label for their endeavors while continuing to collaborate with their old label for group marketing.
Fans speculated that BIGBANG may act in this way, but a recent modification to the website made them reconsider.
The members of the group were removed from YG’s website when their contracts expired, but the group category persisted. Fans discovered on January 11 that BIGBANG was no longer listed as an artist on the YG Entertainment website.
Other than BIGBANG, BLACKPINK was also removed
According to reports, two of YG Entertainment’s top K-pop icons have vanished from the company’s official website.
Fans noted that there was a noticeable lack of content on YG Entertainment’s official website, namely on the ARTIST page. It appears that the names of each member of BLACKPINK—JENNIE, ROSÉ, JISOO, and LISA—had been taken down from the artist lineup on the website by the firm.
YG also took out all the members of the renowned K-pop group BIGBANG in addition to BLACKPINK.
Following BLACKPINK members’ decision to quit the firm and remain with YG exclusively for the group’s activities, this removal is a response. Jennie decided to launch her label, ODDATELIER.
Jisoo allegedly teamed up with her brother to launch her agency in the interim. Lisa also flourishes when she works alone, independently establishing her reputation across the world.
Blackpink Rosé is the lone member that many believed would keep her solo contract with YG Entertainment. However, recent updates indicated that even Rosé had opted not to extend individual contracts with YG Entertainment.
Rather, she is currently getting ready for a solo return, working with some well-known figures in the music business, such as Ron Fay, the CEO and chairman of Columbia Records, and other foreign song producers.
What Happened?
It is now confirmed that all the members of BLACKPINK have chosen not to have their contracts renewed, as evidenced by the absence of their names.
The members of BLACKPINK will carry on their legacy, but they may now pursue their passions without having to cope with the convoluted processes and red tape of the organization.
Big Bang now consists of just G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Seungri as its three active members after T.O.P. left and Seungri’s unbelievable controversy. Whether performing solo or with BIGBANG, each member of the group has widespread recognition in their industries.
Consequently, BIGBANG could be attempting to assert their rights and trademarks in the background, similar to what occurred with GOT7 and INFINITE. After all, it looks like YG Entertainment will no longer be able to claim this K-pop icon this year.
BIGBANG’s Net Worth
BIGBANG’s successful individual careers have allowed the group to amass a net worth of nearly $40 million in 2022, despite not having made a comeback to yet.
G-Dragon, whose net worth as of this year was over $45 million, is still the richest member of the boy band. The K-pop star is successful in a variety of fields. In addition, he is a model, composer, producer, and style icon.
Because of his wealth, he was even able to rank among the Top 10 Richest K-pop Stars, with Psy and Jaejoong from JYJ.
G-Dragon earns enormous sums of money by performing and promoting simultaneously as an idol, mostly from his physical and online music sales. He is so successful as a solo artist outside the boy band that all of his albums and performances are often sold out.
Fan’s react
One fan on Reddit said it’s hardly surprising. Only Taeyang is still signed to Black Label, GD and Daesung have signed with other agencies, and TOP has twice said that he won’t be the top dog of BB for a long.
Although he doesn’t think a group reunion is out of the question, he doesn’t think it will happen anytime soon. He predicted that it would take five years after Still Life.
