Truelove is a brand-new drama that was recently released on Channel 4. It stars Sue Johnston, Lindsay Duncan, Peter Egan, Kiran Sonia Sawar, Phil Davis, Fiona Button, Karl Johnson and Clarke Peters. The screenplay has a new perspective of cat-and-mouse thriller.
The show focuses on a bunch of old friends who agree to stage a more dignified death as a symbol of their “Truelove” if and when the time comes instead of allowing each other to experience a terrible decline.
However, things quickly take an unexpected and hazardous turn when a young, adventurous police officer finds out that there is more to this bunch of retirees than meets the eye.
Truelove, which has a core cast of seventy-five, presents a surprisingly fresh perspective on old age with its witty sense of humor, exciting turns, and heartfelt love tale that celebrates second chances and the fact that it is never too late.
In this article, we’re going to take a look at all the filming locations of Truelove.
Where was the show filmed?
Filming was done in Wales, Somerset, and Bristol. Redland, Clifton, Westbury on Trym, and the Blaise Castle Estate in Henbury were among the locations in Bristol.
Set in Somerset, it included Burnham on Sea, Clevedon Pier, Berrow, and Brean.
When does Truelove start, and how many episodes are there?
The dark drama Truelove premieres on Channel 4 on Wednesday, January 3 at 9 p.m. Every week, on Wednesday and Thursday nights, the one-hour episodes will show. The new dark drama series consists of six one-hour episodes.
The cast of the show
Lindsay Duncan as Phil
Leading the ensemble is Lindsay Duncan, who plays retired police investigator Phil. Star of Harry Potter Julie Walters withdrew from Truelove because of persistent health issues, and the actress took her place.
Lindsay informed Channel 4 that Phil’s role was of a Deputy Chief Constable, and has been retired for years. She’s well respected in the police department, but she’s disappointed that the sexism of the period prevented her from rising to the top position.
She may be retired, but she hasn’t psychologically retired. She was quite skilled at her work and genuinely enjoyed it. Her sense of self does not sit well with retirement.
Actress Lindsay, meanwhile, is most recognized for her parts in The Wheel of Time and A Discovery of Witches.
Clarke Peters as Ken
Ken, a former SAS soldier, is played by Clarke Peters. When they were adolescents, Ken fell deeply in love with Phil, a love that neither of them was able to fully overcome.
Joking with the rest of the celebrity ensemble, Clarke told Channel 4 that “it’s been terrible!” There’s no fun with these folks. We don’t chuckle, laugh, or encourage one another.
“It’s an enjoyable cast and a fun bunch of folks to hang out with. You can just let them follow their instincts and offer encouragement because you know that, no matter how they phrase what they’re attempting to do, it will be excellent.”
The actor’s most well-known role outside of Truelove is that of Detective Lester Freamon from the HBO series The Wire.
Sue Johnston as Marion
Sue Johnston, a renowned actress, portrays David’s sister Marion.
Regarding her role and the show overall, Sue remarked on Channel 4: “Marion doesn’t get a lot of laughs! Having said that, we do manage to laugh a lot together.
She believes that seeing the humorous side of things is the best way to cope with things if you’re doing death scenes or funerals all the time. As a cast, they laugh a lot, but things can go south very quickly occasionally! It does not imply that one does not think carefully about this.
However, one can’t simply be gloomy, and the writing has a great deal of fun and comedy, which is visible in all the scenes. The screenplay cleverly dances between light and dark tones, with a blend of thrill and darkness.
Peter Egan as David
Loved actor Peter Egan portrays David, the former GP. “First of all, you can expect a fantastically written narrative,” the singer said to Channel 4 when asked what viewers may anticipate from the show.
“The scripts are excellent beyond belief. They’re quite thrilling. Following the plot is riveting, and each character is quite engaging.
