Recap
Like the previous seasons, Murdoch Mysteries Season 17 takes place in the late 1890s and early 1900s. In addition to his investigation abilities, William employs forensic methods like fingerprinting and ultraviolet lighting to locate the murderers at the start of the new century.
When Miss Hart accidentally spilt something in Watt’s water cup during the sixteenth season, George’s last name was still spelt erroneously, even after he was promoted to inspector. More advanced Murdochian gadgets were unveiled in the previous season, including a weaponized capacitor and a bolometer.
This week saw the release of the forty-four-minute first episode of Season 17. The inspector’s task is to locate Crabtree, Ogden, and William once they are abducted.

Murdoch’s inquiry, which began after the accused Mona Lisa thief died, focuses on artist Emily Carr. Murdoch believes there is a connection between a prior case involving harlots sold into marriage and the stabbing of a man at an oyster bar.
After satisfying the psychopath James Gillies’ desire for a mechanical soothsayer, Ogden pays him a visit to a house of horrors. Odgen, Watts, and Effie go to a healing retreat led by a charismatic guru, during which one of the participants passes away unexplainably.
