A Hollywood icon and a beloved action hero, the sixty-one-year-old actor, Tom Cruise has been doing films for over forty years and seems to have still not lost his touch. The actor has consistently been a part of one of the highest-paid actors’ list, with his films managing to collect over $11.5 billion in gross earnings.
A respected actor, Cruise has to his name a long list of awards and accolades, including an Honorary Palme d’Or, two Saturns Awards, and three Golden Globes, along with several Oscar and BAFTA awards nominations. The actor started sometime around the start of the 1980s and continues to pull audiences to the theatres with movies like The Mummy and Top Gun: Maverick.
He is known to have quite the reputation for insisting on performing his stunts, especially in his fan-favorite Mission Impossible franchise, which we are sure fans must be familiar with. He kickstarted his career with lead roles in Risky Business, Top Gun, The Outsiders, Born on Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire, and others, all of which were hits.
He moved to dramatic roles in films, including the likes of A Few Good Men, The Firm, Interview with the Vampire, and Eyes Wide Shut, which were commercial hits and helped him establish his skills further in the industry. The Mission Impossible series came into being in 1996 and changed the career trajectory of the actor, firmly establishing himself as an action film hero.
The actor’s fame and popularity have not faltered over the years, though he may have a few flops here and there. One other thing people have continuously praised Cruies for, other than his courage in performing his stunts and for his performance in films, is his good looks.
Fans have witnessed the young man turn from the sexiest man alive in 1990, to a handsome man, who, despite his age, continues to look as fresh as ever. But as it turns out, this was not always the case with the actor, who looked ever so slightly different than he does now, and no, we are not talking about the visible smile lines and wrinkles that have gotten added to his features.
Tom Cruise Before & After
If you have been following the actor’s career, you must have noticed the difference between Tom’s face from when he was fresh in the business, doing small roles, to what he is now. Turns out the sweet smile the actor loves flashing to his fans did not always look the way it does, pretty and dazzling.
While his perfectly aligned teeth have added to his charm, making him look more ‘Hollywood A-lister’ worthy, it was, back in the day, misaligned and imperfect, much like many young boys at the time. While we are sure you would be able to dig up some images of his teeth then, there is not much proof left of it unfortunately.
He was only twenty when he entered the industry with his crooked teeth, which by the way, you can spot in the movie The Outsiders, which came out in the early 1980s, when the actor’s talent was still undiscovered. He had his crooked teeth fixed with the help of alignment procedures after which he seemed to have also gotten a teeth whitening procedure done, adding to his unnaturally bright white smile.
During the early 2000s, the actor proudly revealed his braces to photographers on the red carpets and fans, saying that it was finally time for him to fix his teeth. Before this, the actor was known to have used his teeth as a feature that could potentially add to the personalities of the different characters he played early on in his career.
The actor revealed that it was while he was playing hockey that he got injured and his teeth got damaged. While he has got them fixed however he could, there is a lot that is not natural about them. His ‘dental midline’ is shifted toward the left, and he has had a few embarrassing accidents because of his teeth procedures.
His smile and teeth have changed too many times over his career, but one thing that remains unchanged despite all of it is his charming smile, which many continue to admire.
