Kodak Black is facing legal issues once more; this time, he was arrested in Florida on suspicion of possessing cocaine, tampering with evidence, and improperly stopping or parking a vehicle.
The 26-year-old rapper, whose true name is Bill Kapri, was arrested and lodged at a Plantation, Florida, county jail.
In addition to these charges, he was also issued a traffic infraction for obstructing the road. The Florida Highway Patrol noticed a black Bentley SUV obstructing a road, which led to the arrest. Kodak Black was discovered dozing off at the wheel by the authorities, who also noticed a potent smell.
Kodak Black had marijuana in the SUV
The rapper acknowledged that there was marijuana in the SUV when he awoke. Police did, however, also come across a Styrofoam cup that they thought held alcohol. Law enforcement reported that they saw Kodak Black drop white powder to the ground as he got out of the car.
Despite Kodak Black’s insistence that the substance in question was Percocet, field tests indicate that it was cocaine.
Kodak Black’s recent legal troubles are exacerbated by this arrest. He was sentenced to prison for using a false statement to obtain a firearm, but in 2020, former President Donald Trump pardoned him. He completed almost half of his three-year term.
In a different incident that happened closer to Los Angeles, two people who believe they were shot outside a West Hollywood after-party last year are suing Kodak Black and Justin Bieber. The lawsuit claims that Kodak Black was a major factor in starting the shooting as he left the venue, which happened after a private Bieber concert for celebrities. It was revealed that Kodak Black was one of the three persons shot during the incident.
Kodak Black has a long timeline of legal problems
In December 2015, Kodak Black was arrested for less than two pounds of marijuana in St. Lucie County, just two months after he was charged with more serious crimes. Apart from that, he was accused of possessing drug paraphernalia.
Kodak Black was charged with assaulting a young woman in Florence, South Carolina, in February of 2016. Following his performance at Treasure City nightclub, the woman said she went to his hotel room, where she was forced to undress by the rapper, who then allegedly bit her and sexually assaulted her. Charges of criminal sexual misconduct were brought against him.
Not long after the Florence incident, in April 2016, Kodak was allegedly seen purchasing marijuana from a drug dealer. And then the police tried to stop him as he drove off. He reportedly threw a gun out of his car to try to avoid being arrested.
Kodak was taken into custody by the authorities for being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon, possessing marijuana, and multiple traffic infractions following the retrieval of a loaded Glock 23 handgun chambered in.40 caliber.
Kodak Black was arrested on a trespassing charge on New Year’s Day in Pompano Beach in January 2022. Despite being prohibited from the premises by the Housing Authority of Pompano Beach, Kodak was discovered at a housing complex, as per the police report provided by the arresting officer.
A cease-and-desist order against Kodak was reportedly issued by the housing authority due to disturbances that occurred during a previous visit in August 2021. Kodak and his attorneys argued that he was on the property in August to provide residents who were having financial difficulties with air conditioners.
The trespassing charge was eventually dropped on January 20.
According to a police report, Kodak Black was pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol in Broward County on July 15, 2022, after it was discovered that the car’s registration had expired.
