BTS Jungkook made headlines for earning platinum for the song “Seven” from the latest album – Golden. However, his other song from the same album, 3D, also earned a massive fanbase, be it on Spotify or YouTube. In the latter, 3D has surpassed 90 million views so far and is believed to be making more in the process.
But, as Jungkook later worked with the American singer Justin Timberlake for its remix version, it sparked controversy. The Kpop fans, especially the Kookies (Jungkook’s fandom), didn’t appreciate the collaboration but criticized it.
Jungkook’s prominence is undenying. Hailing from Busan, he is now 26 years old. At this young age, he has achieved a lot, not just from the Kpop group but also as a solo artist. His songs – Stay Alive, Dreamers, Standing Next To You, My You, and Too Much, earned him massive popularity and global reach. He is the golden maknae of BTS.
In an interview in the initial days of his career, Jungkook opened up about his wish to work with Charlie Puth. He has always been a great fan. Guess what? He made it happen. Last year, Jungkook and Charlie Puth worked together on the song- Left and Right, which turned out to be another hit.
When it comes to Jungkook, his dance skills are something which has to be appreciated. There is a resemblance to the late “King of Pop” – Michael Jackson.
Moving on, Jungkook’s work with Justin Timberlake for 3D remix has now become a hot topic on social media. In this electrifying Kpop world, collaborations usually spark excitement. But, in this case, it was not like that. Here is what we know about the backlash.
BTS Idol Jungkook Working With Justin Timberlake For The Remix Version Of His Song 3D Sparked Criticisms: Everything To Know
No doubt, Justin Timberlake is also quite famous. But, he had a laundry of controversies in the past. Initially, fans were excited about the collaboration. Later, when the revelations were made, everyone questioned the HYBE Labels’ decision to pair the Kpop idol Jungkook with someone deemed “extremely problematic.”
One person commented, “I had no clue Justin Timberlake was problematic until today.” Things were fueled after the revelation of Justin’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict was made public.
Little did you know, the American singer signed an open letter where he praised the US President- Joe Biden, on 12 October. He was not the only one, though; many other Hollywood celebs did it too. That supported Israel’s outrage. Because of this, many people labeled Justin as the ”Israel Supporter.” It’s quite obvious that people show their disappointment about the collaboration for the 3D remix after this.
On the other hand, some people also defended it, saying that the decision about Jungkook’s collaboration with Justin might have been made before the controversies sparked online.
The original version of Jungkook’s song, 3D, was made with Jack Harlow. Many questioned why the idol didn’t work with the latter for the remix version. Keeping this aside, one must note that the one with Justin Timberlake was released on 24 November 2023. It got its release in the audio form.
Korean netizens turned out to be especially offended. But their 3D remix has successfully hit a new peak at number 1 on US iTunes. Despite the controversies surrounding the Cry Me a River singer, it broke multiple records. On this note, one Kookie wrote, “We care about Jungkook’s music and not the personal drama of his collaborators. If you don’t want to support, that’s fine.”
Since both of their names start with the same initial, many fans speculated if Jungkook would keep it “JT” and “JK.” But, no, he didn’t. Instead, he kept it “Jung.” Keeping the negativity aside, what do you think about Jungkook’s 3D remix, the one with Justin Timberlake?
