The K-pop boy band BTS never failed to impress us with its music and fashion choices. But, this time, it’s about the leader, RM, sparking controversy for sharing Frank Ocean’s “Bad Religion.” The idol sparked a backlash where fans accused him of Islamophobia.
Well, this isn’t the first time, though. Previously, RM was also criticized by fans for sharing a picture of him smoking with one of his pals. Fans showed enough concern, but the rapper said that it’s his life.
When it comes to BTS, each of its members were earlier believed to be respectful. They have fans in different parts of the world. Respect is something that is earned and is not available for free. So far, the Kpop group has performed in numerous countries. The idols showed enough love and respect to the audience who visited to see them perform.
But what happened suddenly? BTS member RM, also known as Kim Nam-joon, recently got criticized for his acts. Some even expressed their outrage by burning his photographs. He stayed quiet for some time until things went too far. RM came up and addressed the entire case.
BTS Member RM Shared That He Had No Intension To Demean Any Religion
Following the Islamophobia accusations made against RM, the singer said, “I didn’t insult any religion.” In other words, RM addressed it by saying that he had no intention to insult or demean any religious beliefs. He is fond of Frank Ocean’s “Bad Religion” and that’s the only reason why he shared the same.
Concerning the backlash, RM said, “You guys keep insisting that I insulted a religion, but I didn’t. My intent was not to insult any religion.” In addition to this, he also mentioned that he respects all beliefs and religions.
Despite the harsh comments that were thrown at the BTS idol, RM refused to apologize because, according to him, he isn’t responsible for everybody’s assumptions. He said, “It’s a song. I am not going to apologize. I’m 30 years old, and I have the right to express my truth.” He also urged his fans not to assume much because he didn’t ever think of disrespecting any religion, belief, or even a person.
While addressing the “Bad Religion” controversy, RM shared that he was always aware of his limits when he spoke the truth. It is never possible for anyone to convince all.
On this note, he said that some might say, “Oh, you are lying. You are insulting.” Well, being a die-hard ARMY, we trust him, and he can’t lie to his fans. Isn’t it? What do you think? He requested everyone to believe his words and shared that he was unable to deal with the accusations at the time.
While accusing RM of Islamophobia, many claimed that this was shameful of him. To the newbies, RM is a UNICEF ambassador. That, he is supposed to fight racism and not to support what is happening. Frank Ocean’s “Bad Religion” song garnered a massive fanbase on streaming sites. But, lately, Muslims found a part of the lyrics a bit problematic.
Well, he isn’t the first one. Even in the past, Blackpink was accused of being Islamophobic, as they vibed well with this same controversial song. But, at that time, people didn’t point out their fingers at the girl group.
At present, RM has taken a break from music as he has enlisted in the mandatory South Korean Military Service. We are eagerly waiting for his comeback. The whole Kpop world is waiting for him. Best Wishes. Make sure to follow Kim Nam-joon, aka RM, on his Instagram account for more relatable content.
