In the previous chapter of Reborn as the Enemy Prince, Callian tries to negotiate with Celene about stopping his daily dose of poison in tea but Celene has no interest in it. She is pretty arrogant and sure that even if he pulls of his little stunt, no one would dare raise their finger against her because of her power.
Well, Callian decides to take a huge gamble and drinks that tea he poisoned himself before the banquet started. Once the guests come pouring in, Callian begins coughing up blood because of the latent poison acting up in his body and he immediately collapses on the floor.
However, the King is enraged to see his son writhe on floor in pain and it reminds him of the sight where Callian mother died after asking him to protect her son. Celene is sure that no one would dare raise a finger against her when the King screams at her, asking if she wants to take away Callian from him too.
Celene obviously tries to play innocent, claiming she has no idea what he is talking about. She tells tales about the prince’s general ill health and even asks the other princes to verify her words. However, in a very shocking turn of events, Planche betrays Celene and says that there is no issue with Callian’s health.
That makes it easy for people to accuse Celene who is truly at fault and it makes the King even more mad. A healer finally comes and tries to cast healing magic on Callian but his teacher arrives on time and casts a barrier to prevent the healer from using his power, saying it can kill him.
