American rapper Mase gained huge fame and success after he was signed to the label Bad Boy Records. As Sean Puff Diddy Combs founded the label, Mase made a prominent name for himself as he has as many as five platinum singles.
Not only that, but Biggie’s labelmates Evans and Mase sold a whopping 1 million and 4 million copies, respectively. However, his relationship with the label company turned a bit bitter with time.
Their first albums were titled Faith and Harlem World. However, Mase later formed his own record label, All Out Records, in 1998. However, Mase soon left the music industry while explaining that he wanted to pursue a calling from God and wanted to serve God in his own way.
There were several other speculations when the rapper had an alleged feud with one of his fellow artists. Let us find out why Mase Leave Bad Boy.
Why did Mase Leave Bad Boy?
Mase revealed that he left Bad Boy in pursuit of finding himself as he felt like he had a lot of money, but he did not really know who he was and was adamant that he had to do something other than just Hip-Hop. Mase would go on to explore religion, which he implores, which was a gift for him that may have been even greater than his gift with music.
The platinum-selling recording artist denied any ongoing accusations that he was scared of the sub-culture of violence within Hip-Hop while stating that he was not scared and that it was just common sense.
Mase even made it clear that he doesn’t really want to be under nobody from the aspect of being tied to a long, long contract. The artist further compared it with breaking up and that he doesn’t want to jump into yet another relationship.
Mase Opens Up About His Career And Bad Boy
Mase has earlier revealed that he has been in that contract for 16 years while adding that they later let him out of it, and while giving a huge shout-out to Diddy, he explained how he might have just woken up feeling good and seemingly wanted to do something good.
However, Mase also took this opportunity to reveal that he never got paid what he was worth, and he never really got the respect he was worth. Mase went on to admit that he had disdain for Diddy and that he tried to keep Mase right there and did not want him to grow at anything, which increased the distance between the two.
What Happened Between Diddy And Mase?
There were growing speculations about Diddy and Mase getting into a feud, which Mase might have talked about in some of his early interviews. It has also been alleged that Diddy rejected Mase’s whooping $2 million offer to buy back his rights.
In a since-deleted post, Mase even worse about how Diddy’s past business practices knowingly continued to purposely starve his artists and how the label has been extremely unfair to the very same artists that helped him obtain that Icon Award on the iconic Bad Boy label.
Diddy recently made headlines as he is all set to reassign the publishing rights of Bad Boy Records’ catalog to all the artists and songwriters behind the music, as it is soon going to be the music label’s 30th anniversary. In a recent interview, Diddy explained how it is really about him evolving and him wanting to do the right thing, and they should all look at where we’re at in the world today.
The rapper explained that he is doing things that God tells him to do while saying that he is not for everybody. We wonder what Mase has to say about this statement and Diddy’s newest decision to reassign the publishing rights. The feud went on for a while as Mase allegedly released a diss track that was directed at Diddy.
