Noelia Voigt of Utah was crowned the new Miss USA in Reno, Nevada, on Friday night at the conclusion of the 2023 pageant held at the Grand Sierra Resort.
The event was broadcast live on the CW Network, with Savannah Gankiewicz of Hawaii coming in first runner-up. Voigt, 23, was one of the fifty other winners in the pageant.
During the televised competition, the initial group of contestants was reduced to 20 finalists following the swimsuit and evening gown rounds. Voigt, Gankiewicz, Pennsylvania’s Jasmine Daniels, Texas’ Lluvia Alzate, and Wisconsin’s Alexis Loomans were these five competitors.
Noelia Voigt’s winning answer at the 2023 pageant
In response to a question during the last round of Q&A regarding her position as Miss USA and “brand ambassador” for the Miss Universe Organization, Voigt stressed that she is a “bilingual Venezuelan-American.” She pledged to establish connections with different communities throughout the nation.
Actress Vivica A. Fox, former “Real Housewife” Luann de Lesseps, and beauty vlogger Patrick Starrr were on the judge’s panel.
The Miss USA Organization’s president and CEO, Laylah Rose, stated in a statement released at the beginning of September that the pageant sought to bring a “modern and progressive approach to a 70-year-old tradition.”
Due to a recent rule change by the Miss Universe Organization, Juliana Morehouse-Locklear of Maine became the first married state titleholder at this year’s Miss USA. The fact that Morehouse-Locklear, a 1994 Miss USA contestant’s daughter, failed to finish in the top 20 is notable.
More about Noelia Voigt
Noelia Voigt, an American model and beauty pageant winner, was crowned Miss USA 2023 on September 29, 2023. She is the first Miss USA winner in 63 years and the third woman from Utah to hold the title. The Miss USA pageant began in 1960.
Voigt has been selected to compete for the United States in the Miss Universe 2023 pageant, which will take place in El Salvador on November 18, 2023. Interestingly, she opposes bullying.
Born in Sarasota, Florida, to American Jack David Voigt, a former professional baseball player for Aguilas del Zulia, and Venezuelan mother Jackeline Coromoto Briceño from Maracaibo, Voigt is the first Venezuelan-American to win Miss Utah USA and then Miss USA titles. At Osprey, Florida’s Pine View School, she continued her education.
R’Bonney Gabriel at the 2022 Miss USA pageant controversy
The 2022 Miss USA, Morgan Romano of North Carolina, is defeated by Voigt. Romano succeeded R’Bonney Gabriel of Texas as the 2022 Miss Universe after her coronation in January.
Gabriel’s victory in the 2022 Miss USA pageant was controversial because some rival contestants said the competition had been “rigged” in Gabriel’s favor. Following her crowning in October 2022, the Miss Universe Organization, Miss USA’s parent company, opened an inquiry.
As a result, Miss USA 2008 winner Crystle Stewart, who was also the organization’s national director at the time, and her company, Miss Brands, were placed on administrative leave.
The accusations of rigging and unfair advantage were fiercely denied by Stewart, Gabriel, and other officials. Gabriel asserted that there was no unfair advantage to E! News and that nothing was rigged.
In a statement, Stewart reaffirmed her dedication to providing competitors with equal opportunities and her love for spearheading an organization that empowers young women.
In August, the pageant ended its association with Stewart following a comprehensive inquiry that demonstrated the falsehoods of the accusations made against it.
Following their disagreement about Crystle’s continued participation in the Miss Universe Organization, Crystle made the decision to use her accomplishments with the Miss USA Organization to pursue her other entrepreneurial interests.
At the Grand Sierra Resort on Thursday night, 16-year-old UmaSofia Srivastava of New Jersey was crowned Miss Teen USA. The first runner-up was 19-year-old New Yorker Stephanie Skinner.
