After being let go from the mask metal band Slipknot, Jay Weinberg, the former drummer for the group, is speaking out.

Slipknot announces the band’s parting ways after Jay Weinberg’s departure
“One week prior, on November 5th, Slipknot declared their breakup with Weinberg. Weinberg joined the rock group in 2013 and took over for Joey Jordison when he left. No one can ever fully capture Joey Jordison’s unique sound, style, or energy, but Slipknot, the band, and the fans are grateful that Jay honored Joey’s contributions and contributed to the last three albums.
But Slipknot, who was always thinking forward, took the bold choice to break up with Jay. The band wished Jay well and conveyed their excitement for what lies ahead.”
Weinberg played drums for Slipknot during his tenure on their Grammy-winning album 5: The Gray Chapter (2014), The End, So Far (2022), and We Are Not Your Kind (2019).5: The Gray Chapter and We Are Not Your Kind both made their Billboard 200 debuts at number one.
Jay Weinberg shares his time in Slipknot
Weinberg made a lengthy statement on Saturday in which he said, “There’s been some solace despite the distress and uncertainty. For many of you who are reading this, we had not yet met ten years ago. We are now, too. He is eternally grateful for that in ways he can never fully articulate.”
The drummer went on, “He looks forward to making loud, passionate, and heartfelt music that they can enjoy together again, but he doesn’t know how or when.
In the meantime, know that spending the last ten years with you and sharing their passion for this unique area of the music and art industries has been the pleasure of a lifetime.
After founding drummer Jordison left the band in 2013 to join the band with late bassist Paul Gray (who passed away in 2010) and percussionist Shawn Crahan, Slipknot was formed in 1995.
Slipknot has not yet disclosed Weinberg’s replacement on the drums. Presently, the band’s schedule includes appearances at Welcome to Rockville on May 12, 2024, and the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas on April 27, 2024.
