Given that the majority of the couples on Married at First Sight season 8 appear to be divorcing over time, it’s likely that some of them made a mistake by getting married to strangers. Most couples are on the edge of divorce after the penultimate dinner party.
In the Channel 4 dating reality series Married at First Sight, a group of single people are matched with each other by “relationship experts,” who, following personality tests, link them with potential spouses.
Shortly before their wedding, the couples have their first meeting and must pass a battery of tests to see whether they will make a good match. With the most episodes of any season, MAFS UK’s eighth season makes sure we witness more of the couples’ behind-the-scenes interactions.
Recap
We will have witnessed the couples getting ready for and attending the dinner that follows the penultimate commitment party by the time MAFS UK concludes. The final straw for Peggy to end their relationship was learning that Georges was sending recordings of himself to other people.
Bianca and Nathaniel left the show on their own; however, Luke and Jay were taken out of the MAFS experiment. Even after leaving the program, Luke and Jay continue to be together off-screen.
Nearly all the other couples decided to carry on with the experiment and give their romance another go during the penultimate commitment ceremony. Problems in partnerships that had been going well from the start surfaced after an unforeseen partner changeover.
At the penultimate dinner party, where they made sure to highlight the flaws in each other’s relationships, many of the men and women experienced their lowest points and considered ending their marriages.
The ability of the remaining MAFS couples to stoke the fires even more was made possible in large part by the anonymous letters. With Married at First Sight UK’s eighth season almost complete, the next experiment will be homestays.
The couples participated in homestays in Episode 28, which is a tradition that concludes each season of MAFS. During a homestay, married couples remain at each other’s houses, either by themselves or with their parents.
This provides the experimental couples with an opportunity to evaluate if their union is a study-specific fairytale or if it has the potential to last in the real world. Living together reveals several hidden aspects of each other to a couple that they were unaware of before.
Living together will undoubtedly strengthen some of the relationships on MAFS season 8, but for some couples who find it difficult to adapt to one other’s real lives, it ends up being the worst thing.
The anonymous letters push the group to confront some difficult facts, adding to the drama of the penultimate dinner event. When the homestays start, the newlyweds receive a glimpse of life beyond the confines of the experiment and an opportunity to ask their loved ones for advice.
The most difficult assignment of the season, Partner Swap Week, awaits the remaining couples. A couple experienced a challenging time, while another groom was uncertain about his marriage’s future.
The homestays continue as the couples make an effort to fit in with each other’s lives. While some couples become closer to their partners, others find that the demands of the outside world become too much.
Following the final vow-taking ceremony for the remaining couples, a bride reveals a revelation that deeply affects her spouse. On their final dates, every other couple departed. One couple is going to experience a catastrophe, while some of them take their time and consider their options.
Spoilers
This is the group’s last get-together as they reflect on their time spent in the experiment. Some people have a lot to be happy about, while others talk about their relationships failing.
