The narrative of how volleyball-obsessed Hinata Shoyo found inspiration to improve is what Haikyuu!! is all about. Even though volleyball matches take up the bulk of most chapters, there is a lot more going on in the series as a whole.
As a narrative of how volleyball changed the lives of everyone who came into contact with it, Haruichi Furudate’s manga Haikyuu!! has an impact even when the sport is absent.
Fans of Haikyuu! shouldn’t worry about their favorite characters, even if the series will end in 2020 with the publication of the last chapter. Many of the stars of Karasuno High School’s past are now pursuing their own interests, as seen in Chapter 402. Hinata is leaving her former professional volleyball colleagues behind in order to hone her sand skills in Brazil.
Two years later, Hinata flies back to Japan to conduct a video audition for the professional squad MBSY Black Jackals. His first opponent will be Kageyama, the current setter for the Schweiden Adlers and a former teammate and rival of his.
Haikyuu!! Manga Chapter 402 Recap
Even more so than the previous chapters, the last chapter of Haikyuu is a love letter to the show’s audience, the medium of anime, and the sport of volleyball. This chapter brings back a plethora of fan-favorite characters, some of whom we hadn’t seen since the time jump, and offers them all a farewell that isn’t truly a farewell.
This is an important chapter because it serves as a reminder that even if the series is coming to an end, the characters will go on, even if we as viewers won’t. This is great news since it means Oikawa’s efforts have paid off. The announcer describes him as a “demon in Miyagi,” but Aoba Josai never advanced above the regional level owing to his consistent defeat at the hands of Shiratorizawa.
I’m glad he’s finally getting the worldwide recognition he deserves for his talents. This is fantastic news because it shows Oikawa’s efforts have paid off. The commentator calls Aoba Josai a “demon in Miyagi,” yet the many losses he suffered at the hands of Shiratorizawa ensured that he never rose beyond the regional level.
While the rest of the school is away, the volleyball alumni have gathered for a special event. Ushijima, in the meantime, has joined the men’s national volleyball squad of Japan. Tohru Oikawa has become a citizen of Argentina and is now playing for the national team under the tutelage of Blanco.
In the ongoing Olympic competition, the team includes Shoyo Hinata, Ushiwaka, Hoshiumi, and Sakusa. On the other side, Kageyama is with the Ali Roma squad, and they are playing in the 2022 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Championship in Rome. Chapter 402 of “Haikyuu” concluded with him and his squad taking on Asas Sau Paulo, a Brazilian team on whom Hinata plays.
What Characters Are Doing in Finale?
After a lapse of time, it was revealed that Sawamura joined the Miyagi Prefecture Police Force after graduating and is now assigned to the Community Safety Division. He has the same height and weight as the other characters, but his muscles are more developed. In the last episode, he joins Sawamura and the Tanakas in watching Kageyama and Hinata’s Olympic match.
Thank goodness, Suguwara hasn’t altered much either. He’s still his quirky old self, teaching first grade after graduating from college and attempting to impart to Tanaka’s parrot the Ju-On theme song in the series finale. In the last chapter, he joins Sawamura and the Tanakas in watching the big game.
After receiving his degree, Asahi Azumane relaxed his hairstyle and eventually settled in Tokyo as an outfit designer. In contrast to his previous Karasuno teammates, however, he does not spend the last episode of the series watching the Olympics. Instead of being at the game, he is midway through a globe tour with Nishinoya.
He and Nishinoya email a photo of themselves in front of the pyramids in Egypt to Sawamura and the others to let them know where they are. After the time jump, Nishinoya became a major unknown. For a long time, many readers worried that he wouldn’t make it to the series’ final chapters. Nishinoya, however, turns out to have spent his post-university free time traveling the globe.
