Recap
The title for the episode was “How to Say Goodbye.” When Jack’s new neighbor, Nathan Pryce, arrived, he told Jack how well he and Blue work together and that Nathan would face fierce competition at the working cowhorse competition that weekend if Jack went too. The episode started with Jack, Tim, and Amy herding cattle.
Naturally, Jack didn’t take long to respond, saying that he was too busy to compete. But the more he considered the competition, the more plausible the notion appeared. Jack was also convinced that he wanted to enter the competition after practicing with Blue.
The goal of a working cow-horse competition is to determine which horse is the best at handling cattle. Typically, there are three events: cow work, herd work, and rein work.
Jack even seems incredibly eager to demonstrate Blue’s abilities. And Blue appeared energized, too, carrying out Jack’s orders with flawless precision. However, it became evident that Jack wouldn’t be able to make it to Braeburn that weekend after Lisa received some unfavorable news.
Jack urged Amy to compete on his behalf because he didn’t want to let Blue down, who appeared to be just as eager to compete as Jack was, and he wanted to defeat Nathan Pryce.
Amy was initially a little hesitant, and her reluctance further increased when Blue showed Amy that he might actually be a one-cowboy horse, making Amy feel uncomfortable when she began working with him.
Amy vowed her grandfather to keep trying, even though Jack was prepared to call it off since he didn’t want to watch his granddaughter suffer because of a contest. Jack seemed to truly want Blue to have this opportunity.
Fortunately, Blue finally warmed up to Amy. By the time the show concluded, Amy and Blue were collaborating as a team. Though perhaps not quite as cohesive as Jack and Blue, Blue undoubtedly had Amy’s trust and paid attention to all of her cues. All that’s left to do is wait for the upcoming episode, which will include the competition itself.
