Recap
We learn about the two brothers that reside with the charming Kang family: Kang Bo-geol and Kang Woo-hak. Woo-hak, well, let’s say he’s more of a free spirit, preferring to stay half-naked with wild hair, while Bo-geol is the responsible, hardworking one. They resemble cheese and chalk. Their sibling conflicts about who gets to use which room set the stage for the episode.
As the narrative develops, Woo-hak decides to go with Bo-geol on his volunteer travels. And where would they go? They have an abandoned island to clean up. Nonetheless, Woo-hak’s preference for flying his drone over cleaning fits with his temperament. Our heroine, Mok-ha, resides on an island that appears to have been abandoned.
When Mok-ha discovers Woo-hak’s drone, her life takes a sudden turn. Curiosity compels her to follow it, and this results in an unplanned reunion. Hurrying to retrieve his rogue drone, Woo-hak trips over Mok-ha. Their lives would be forever changed by this incident, which they never saw coming.
The story is advanced when Woo-hak records Mok-ha’s account once more on the mainland. Having lived alone on the island for the past fifteen years, she has been perplexed by the changes in the world. She’s perplexed not just by the fast internet and smartphones but also by the overall change in society.
Things get even more interesting when Mok-ha requests to take a detour to investigate a banner that features her idol, Ran-joo. This choice—that Mok-ha left the island to see her idol Ran-joo—reveals a great deal about her background. However, Mok-ha holds a special place in her heart for Ran-joo, so this is more than just a fantasy shared by fangirls.
They travel on and eventually return to Chunsum Island, Mok-ha’s hometown, which has seen significant changes. The fish bar owned by her family has been replaced with a new restaurant run by a different person. The new owners are unwelcoming, claiming that since Mok-ha has been declared formally deceased, they are entitled to take over the company.
But Woo-hak steps in to set things right. He reveals that the place is actually owned by Mok-ha, who is still very much alive. Mok-ha’s focus shifts to finding her long-lost friend Ki-ho as the challenging circumstances become less pressing. She heads to Ki-ho’s old house, not realizing he might still be alive.
We discover more and more about Ki-ho’s difficult history as the puzzle pieces fit together. He was fired as a result of the domestic abuse allegation he filed against his father. His father has been looking for him ever since that was the last time he was seen alive.
Mok-ha is compelled to face the past and leave the island in order to find Ki-ho. Despite his worries for her safety, Woo-hak is unable to stop her. In order to allow her to live out her dreams in Seoul in secret, he offers her a place to stay in an unoccupied rooftop apartment.
