Robert Kirkman’s second comic book adaptation for the small screen is called Invincible. It’s not nearly as popular as The Walking Dead and its many spin-off shows, to be sure, but very few television shows have garnered as much fandom as that one. Invincible’s first season garnered enough interest for two more seasons to be renewed almost immediately, indicating that Amazon Studios was happy with the show’s audience figures.

In the season one finale of Invincible, Omni-Man displays his true colors, but instead of taking out Mark when he has the chance, he takes off and leaves Earth behind. Although it’s uncertain if he will come back, Omni-Man’s absence in Invincible: Season 2 fundamentally alters the narrative. Without his father’s strength and wisdom, Mark will have to defend the planet on his own. It also affects his family life on a more intimate level.
Debbie, the mother of Mark, ends her 20-year relationship with a man who has been concealing his true identity from her all along. In their last confrontation with Mark, Omni-Man quickly brushes her off, but he appears to have an unusual amount of affection for his son. Omni-Man might be out there wreaking havoc in the far reaches of space, or he could be back on Earth at any moment.
Amber, Mark’s girlfriend, nearly ended their relationship following the Upstate University cyborg attack. When Amber is in jeopardy, Mark vanishes, so he may reappear as Invincible, but Amber thinks he has simply abandoned her. After revealing his true identity, Mark and the couple are able to be back together.
It has nothing to do with his abilities, yet Mark finds enjoyment in his connection with Amber. Though it’s one of the most heartfelt plots on the show, there’s always a danger that Mark’s personal life will get in the way of his responsibility to defend the Earth. Given that Invincible: Season 2 will take place outside of Earth, Mark might be too busy to make time for his romantic relationships.
One of the show’s enduring highlights from season one is the Mauler twins. If they aren’t fighting over who is the original and who is the clone, they are constantly waiting for a fight to start. Their scheme to bring The Immortal back to life in order to destroy the Guardians fails miserably at the end of Season 1. The twins grudgingly give up when an entire army of invisible guards appears.
It’s reasonable to conclude that the Mauler twins won’t be serving their time in silence because Season 1 already included one violent prison break for them. In addition to their extraordinary physical prowess, the twins possess remarkable mental and scientific abilities. It is difficult to confine them.
