Wolfgang Van Halen got married! On Sunday, October 15, the son of Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli wed Andraia Allsop in a private ceremony at their Los Angeles residence. In front of 90 guests, they revealed all the inside details to PEOPLE.
The pair, who have been dating for eight years, selected this particular day since it was both their wedding day and the anniversary of their first date, which was on October 15, 2015. They emphasized how happy they were to host their loved ones for the special occasion.
Andraia clarified that their aim was simply to gather their dearest family and friends in one place. The past few years have been difficult, not only on a global scale but also due to personal hardships, she continued. However, they also wanted to make this wedding a happy experience for the people they cherish, not just a celebration of their marriage.
Insights into Wolfgang Van Halen and Andraia Allsop’s Wedding
The couple’s living room was used as the location for the wedding ceremony, giving them the privacy and space to spend the special occasion with their loved ones, as Andraia recalled. After the wedding, a reception was held in the backyard that was decorated with floral arrangements and string lights.
A friend who has been very close to Wolfgang for nearly three decades, as he mentioned, officiated the wedding. Wolfgang described him as the father of one of his best men and emphasized the significance of this individual in their lives.
The stunning stained-glass windows that served as the stage background for one of Lady Gaga’s performances were also used for the wedding ceremony. The location was also decorated with flowers in dusty pink and mauve hues. The leader of Mammoth WVH, Wolfgang, dressed for the event in a tailored three-piece black suit.
He and his mother made their way down the aisle to a special song that his late father, Eddie Van Halen, who passed away at the age of 65 from throat cancer, had written for him. Wolfgang said, “The song my father wrote for me is an instrumental piece titled ‘316.’” It’s a beautiful way to remember my father.
Bertinelli described her happiness at being present for her son’s wedding as a lovely and priceless gift. Knowing that Wolfie and Andraia are now dedicated to one another for the rest of their lives, she exudes a profound feeling of contentment. She emphasized their closeness, saying how well they understood one another. They are especially comfortable around each other because they have similar senses of humor and hobbies and understand how to respect one another’s privacy.
Andraia looked perfect at her wedding
Andraia opted for an Eva Lendel dress with a V-neck, sheer long sleeves, and lace trimming. She added that her major goal was to stay at ease all through the day and night. Her dress was long, without a long train, and it fell smoothly to the floor. For additional beauty, it included lace and small beading.
Andraia made a unique decision by having her grandmothers act as the wedding flower girls. She gave a heartfelt explanation of the sentimental motivation behind her choice, mentioning that she was the flower girl at her grandparents’ wedding in the early 1990s when she was just 3 years old.
Because of this, she thought it was appropriate and sweet to create a similar moment at her wedding by having her grandmothers play the part of flower girls.
In addition, Andraia stated that as a unique surprise for each person wearing a boutonniere, corsage, or bouquet, she personally created “small memory charms containing a picture of Wolfie and his dad”. Her goal was to provide everyone a means to remember Eddie Van Halen and to keep him fresh in their minds all day long.
The wedding had an amazing Italian menu
The guests moved to an outside location for the reception, dinner, and dancing following the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour indoors. Italian-inspired dishes were served to the newlyweds, such as Tortellini en Brodo, a tortellini soup that Wolfgang’s grandmother used to make and that his mother used to love.
Additional menu selections were vegan cauliflower steaks, pesto chicken, and braised short ribs. They served tiramisu and a wedding cake from SusieCakes for dessert, which the couple said was a necessity and could not be negotiated.
