The movie, written by Samu Burch, tells a story inspired by a real-life scandal. It’s about a teacher named Mary Kay Letourneau, who was found guilty in 1997 of a serious crime involving a 12-year-old boy named Vili Fualaau. Surprisingly, they got married in 2005.
The movie ‘May December will kick off the New York Film Festival on September 29. It will also be shown at the BFI London Film Festival. In the United States, the movie will come out in theaters on November 17, and you can watch it on Netflix starting December 1.

What is the story behind ‘May December’?
“May December” is a movie about a scandalous love story that happened 20 years ago. It’s about a married woman who had a romantic relationship with a 13-year-old boy, and this story was a big topic in the news at that time.
Similar to what happened with the teacher Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau, the woman in the movie, played by Julianne Moore, went to jail for having a relationship with a young teenager. But later on, she married the young boy, and they moved away to start a family and live quietly.
