Award-winning documentary series Life Below Zero Season 21 will be coming out with Episode 5 soon. This season started with the brave Alaskans moving further into the Arctic Winter, with many challenges and hardships awaiting them.
Nat Geo’s Life Below Zero was first seen back in May 2013 and was introduced as a documentary that would follow a group of hunters and families who’ve chosen to make the frigid lands of Alaska their home.
With the lowest population in all of the United States, Alaska has the most unforgiving temperatures and weather conditions, coupled with an excessive number of dangerous creatures that are hungry and willing to kill anything in sight just for some food.
Life Below Zero showcases these subsistence hunters trying to make a living here without any outside help or guidance. They have to earn, eat, and stay safe using their own special strategies. Originally, Life Below Zero began with main characters Sue Aikens, Chip & Agnes, Glenn Villeneuve, Jessie Holmes, Andy Bassich, Erik & Martha, and Ricko DeWilde.
Produced by BBC Studios, Life Below Zero has a bunch of Primetime Emmy awards to its name. One look at the series, and you’ll understand why a show about these Alaskan dwellers has gathered so many accolades.
Life Below Zero Season 21: Recap
Season 21 of Life Below Zero began with the main characters gearing up to venture into the Arctic Winter. Living in these unforgiving temperatures was making them strong, but this time, the Winter just seemed to be way colder than it had ever been before.
The residents struggle to keep their daily routine going, with the chilly winds hitting them frequently. Since most of the main characters of Life Below Zero are Alaskan natives, they’re used to being around the cold and living off of a few basic amenities.
This time, living their daily lives ignoring the excessive snow was going to be a challenge, as each hunter, couple, and family knew that the environment was only getting more frigid than it ever was. In the desperation of trying to keep themselves warm, the Alaskans refuse to give in to the chilly land and continue about their work.
The recent episode of Life Below Zero featured the Alaskans trying to learn new skills that could help in making their life here easier. Peak brutal winter is right around the corner, so if they properly manage to learn new things, they could help lessen the deadly effects of Arctic winter.
Aside from these skills, the Alaskans also rediscovered older techniques that were passed down for generations. These tactics were proven and reliable, so keeping themselves aware of these older practices would surely come in handy throughout the season.
The reason that Life Below Zero continues to be one of Nat Geo’s hit series is because what we see here is genuine and shows just how far humans can go if they just make up their minds about it.
Whether it’s making a living out of nothing but sticks and snow or managing to survive with various hungry animals all around them, these subsistence hunters we see on the Nat Geo series are a completely different breed of humans due to their strength and resilience.
