The person involved in the Sachsgate scandal claims that Russell Brand went on to earn “millions of pounds” from their brief romantic involvement when she was a young woman who was completely captivated by his fame. Georgina Baillie, the granddaughter of Andrew Sachs, the star of “Fawlty Towers star,” had a brief romantic relationship with Russell Brand when she was 20 years old and he was 30.
This relationship led to the Sachsgate scandal, where on a BBC radio show in 2008, Russell Brand and his co-host Jonathan Ross left explicit messages on Andrew Sachs’ answerphone, boasting about Russell Brand’s relationship with Georgina.
Georgina opens up about her and Russell Brand’s relationship
Georgina, now 38 years old, insists that her involvement with Russell Brand, who faced accusations of rape and sexual assaults during his peak fame, was consensual. She clarified that she was not a victim of any assaults by the comedian. Still, she acknowledged that she was a young woman completely overwhelmed by his celebrity status and was willing to do anything for him, which she did.
Georgina shares that she was just a regular 20-year-old girl at a party back then. But now, reflecting on those years, she realizes she was already struggling with addiction. She was really during that time, Georgina stated.
After the Sachsgate incident, Russell Brand earned a lot of money by making a stand-up comedy routine about it. That was incredibly tough and painful for her. She felt like she was the target of the joke, and she was young and did not know how to deal with it, so she resorted to drinking and drugs.

She further states that she hopes those individuals who have come forward as survivors receive the support and assistance they require. For around a decade after the Sachsgate incident, she struggled because she was unsure if she had done something wrong. When Russell Brand apologized, it was a tremendous relief for me.

Russell Brand, who refutes the allegations in an investigation by The Sunday Times, the Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches, later apologizes to Georgina for Sachsgate and funded her rehabilitation.
The scandal had a significant impact, resulting in Russell Brand and Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas resigning. It also deeply affected Andrew, who did not communicate with Georgina for eight years. Georgina, sober for three years, attributes her recovery to rehab. She believes that when Russell Brand apologized, he truly meant it, but that does not excuse his actions.
Georgina shared that he told her something that stuck with her during his amends. Russell Brand said, “With great power comes great responsibility, and I didn’t realize that before.” This made her think he recognized he had treated her poorly. Georgina believes that the republic nature of what happened to me played a role in his decision to make amends.
As part of the 12-step program, one of the steps involves personally addressing issues with those you have harmed. In Russell Brand’s case, there are likely numerous individuals he has hurt, making it almost impossible to reach out to everyone.
He may not even remember many of those instances, which is unacceptable for those who may have been affected by his actions. It is not an excuse; there is never an excuse, but addiction is a very complex issue, Georgina states.
