Mrs. Sidhu Investigates is a brand-new mystery series from Acorn TV and has a unique style. It centers on a wealthy caterer named Mrs Sidhu, who switches to serving hors d’oeuvres for solving crimes by teaming up with a weary local police officer named DCI Burton. Mrs. Sidhu Investigates, written and created by Suk Pannu, is based on the popular BBC radio play of the same name, where Syal also acted as the main character.
The TV adaptation, once more led by Pannu and Syal, will consist of a total of four feature-length episodes, all of which will include a stand-alone mystery involving a death at a fitness club, a grisly murder at a cosplay event, issues with a tech business, and boxing.
Mrs. Sidhu Investigates Plot
Four-part mystery drama featuring Meera Syal as Mrs. Sidhu, a newly widowed high-end caterer who investigates murders and other crimes that occur among Berkshire’s affluent citizens.
She balances her new catering service with her traveling son Tez while working on honing her investigative skills from a career as an “Indian Aunty,” much to the delight of his formal partner, DS Mint. She also establishes an unofficial relationship with the weary police officer DCI Burton.
Mrs Sidhu Investigates is set in Berkshire, a lush and leafy area just west of London. Berkshire is home to various high-end commuter cities, including Ascot, Reading, and Windsor, which is also home to the famed castle where numerous members of the British Royal Family have married.
In other words, it’s safe to assume that Mrs. Sidhu’s catering customers have big pockets and that the murders she solves might include some famous people. Syal’s character is described as “Slough’s answer to Miss Marple,” an elder auntie type who divides her day job as a cook and caterer with unapologetic nosiness and whose unrelenting curiosity and desire for gossip leads her to become involved with murder.
The BBC Four radio show’s conversion to television was initially announced in July 2022, with Syal and Pannu on board to star and write in the television adaptation, respectively. Now let’s discuss when Episode 1 of Mrs. Sidhu Investigates will be released and what will happen.
Mrs. Sidhu Investigates Episode 1 Release Date & Preview
Mrs. Sidhu Investigates Episode 1 will be released on 18 September 2023 on Acorn TV. This Episode is titled “Ripped”. At the time of writing, only four episodes are scheduled for this first season, but we don’t know yet if there will be more episodes in this first season.
The Synopsis of E1 is as follows: “Mrs. Sidhu’s very first day of serving for Sharpetone, a luxurious health club, takes a surprising turn when two dead bodies are discovered in the spa. Mrs. Sidhu tries to keep out of the conflict despite her talent for solving mysteries.”
“However, Mrs. Sidhu decides to launch her own investigation and disprove the authorities when her young niece, Rani, becomes their top suspect. This puts her at odds with the case’s Chief Detective, Inspector Burton, who seems to have no sympathy for her beliefs. Her research reveals commercial secrets, workplace conflicts, and well-kept love affairs.”
