Netflix’s Norwegian series Ragnarok Season 3 will start airing its episodes soon. Starring David Stakson, the 3 seasons-long mythical drama will finally showcase the ultimate battle between Jutuls and Thor’s group.
Airing since January 2020, Ragnarok is a coming-of-age teen drama mixed with events from Norse Mythology. Magne is the main protagonist of the show, who’s the modern-day reincarnation of Thor. After the second season, Laurits, his half-brother, also awakens his inner Nurse God Loki.
While the first season exclusively took us through Magne’s journey into becoming a God, the second shifted towards Jutuls trying to kill off Magne and win the centuries-old war that exists between these two powerful beings. Asides from David Stakson in the role of Magne Seier, the cast of Ragnarok consists of Jonas Strand as Laurits, Herman Tømmeraas as Fjor, Theresa Frostad as Saxa, and Synnøve Macody as Ran.
Ragnarok Season 2: Recap
Ragnarok Season 2 began airing in May 2021 and started with Wenche informing Magne about the impending war and how he should make himself ready with his Mjölnir. Jutuls know what’s about to go down, so they make preparations as well. Iman, the new student at Magne’s school, joins his plans to take down the Giants.
Magne decides to reveal his identity as Thor to Laurits, but unsurprisingly, he thinks Magne’s crazy. Later, our Thor and Harry work on a new hammer. However, it doesn’t end up having the cool magical abilities that Thor’s hammer is supposed to have.
Vidar and Laurits finally get to spend father-child time together. Seeing Laurits hang out with Vidar worries Magne, so he asks him to maintain distance. Laurits takes this the wrong way and ends up arguing with his brother.
Vidar offers Laurits old-world mead, a drink that, if followed by a ritual, would turn Laurits into one of the giants. This is when Laurits finds out that he’s the reincarnation of Loki and finally believes what his brother was saying all along.
Ran ends up killing Wenche using an arrow, despite Magne trying to save her. After manipulating Vidar to give the key to Jutulheim, Laurits, and Magne sneak into the place, only for them to be caught and labeled as traitors.
We eventually see Vidar trying to kill Laurits with an old-world axe. However, things don’t go as intended, and Magne ends up killing Vidar instead. This traumatizes Magne, followed by his decision not to kill anyone else. With Vidar now dead, the Jutuls fight over who should be the next person in control.
As Fjor and Ran intend to kill Magne, Thor’s busy trying to convince everyone to fight without using violence. As expected, this doesn’t work out, and we eventually see Magne praying for his powers to return. Halvor makes the Mjölnir just in time, but Magne notices that it’s not completely ready yet. Since he’s the controller of thunder, Magne would have to get the Mjölnir hit by lightning for it to activate.
Fjor and Ran set out on a mission to kill Laurits while Magne and Saxa spend time together. Laurits offers to kill Magne in exchange for saving his own life. With his hammer now activated, Magne tries to save Laurits. He almost kills Fjor and Ran, but they manage to escape, leaving a cliffhanger for the new season.
