Betrayal of Dignity Chapter 31 will be the start of a new direction for the plot as Damian shows his true colors in the last chapter. Chapter 30 was an interesting read as it went out of its way to show a realistic lens of the world. The kind that we often forget as we look at the world through a romantic lens.
It is the pull of the genre to show characters going through life and living the life of royalty. A thing that has become more and more obsolete in the modern-day world, making escapism refreshing. However, that led to some shallow characters in the genre and even make the medium looks childish at times due to lack of quality.
This is not to say that the series’ quality became hundred times better just because it had male lead intentions of betraying. Far from it, it leaves a foul taste in the readers, and they look at Damien with scorn. But it will be for that feeling of scorn that the final payoff of Chloe conquering Damien will be worth it.

Betrayal of Dignity Chapter 30 showed Damien and Chloe talking about the recent matters that have taken place. Chloe has finally started to lose her senses and come to a false realization that she likes the arrogant duke. This is not her fault since he is presented to her this way, and this affects her ability to judge.
This is why we see her falling for Damien in this chapter and get curious as to why he seems to care for her. Damien being Damien, deflected the question and made sure not to answer honestly. The main reason behind it is to give him an air of mystery and keep him interested, but that didn’t last long.
Chloe’s heart explodes from the things Damien said about their arrangement, and she spends the rest of the night in his quarters. She is way over her head in this, and Damien is not the kind of guy who would let that go away. He took her in and indulged the female lead for the night, still keeping his intentions to himself.

Betrayal of Dignity Chapter 31 will start with a new point instead of continuing from the last chapter. And given how the last chapter ended, it is understandable that the story would do that after giving the big drop in the last chapter. He finally showed why he is considered one of the scummiest people in the kingdom.
The Yumejoshi-type stories always tend to have male leads that are redeemable down the line, and they are always misguided. And the task of the female lead is to make sure that she guides him to the right path and fixes him.
But, seeing as though Damien even intends to use Chloe for political purposes, he seems irredeemable at best. Moreover, the personality of the Female lead towards Damien was uncanny and forced, it might be the hint of the story ending sooner, but that could be red herring too.
