After a breathtaking episode, fans of the series are wondering what is going to happen next time in the story. That is also why they are anticipating the release of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 16.
The last episode was dropped on July 15th, 2023, which is, of course, Ichigo’s birthday, and we have Kubo and the rest of the anime staff cooking really hard for this episode. The story picks up from the end of the last episode, with Quincy beginning their second invasion of the Soul Society.
With this, Seireitei has been completely transformed into the ice-covered Quincy City. This episode adapts material from chapters 547 to 551. Which is roughly five chapters worth of manga material, and which is more than we have last week.
This is also why this is going to be very interesting to analyze how the events flow within this episode because last week, there was a lot of dialogue with quite a few alterations and anime-exclusive scenes, but this week we are going to be kicking right into the actions.
We have several discussions to look forward to, like, Hashward Confronting Shunsui along with the intense battle involving BG9 and Bazz-B, which are going to take center stage in the upcoming episode.
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 15: Recap and Review
Amazingly, before the opening, we have the incredible scene of the Seireitei that we had seen from the recent Cour 2. Where they all sat around the table similarly to the Espada; this, of course, is the anime-exclusive scene that they have added, and we have the Grand Master sitting at the head of the table, with several new lines of dialogue.
Now during the scene, the camera pans out to reveal the title card piece from the Shadows on the table. I love how creative the anime staff is with revealing the title card for each individual episode.
Later, we see the Seireitei engulfed in a dark red shadow, Ukitake’s seated officers are seen telling the captain about the state of the Seireitei, but strangely Ukitake is within the shrine, with his back turned to them, as he is preoccupied with something very important.
We then cut to head Captain Shunsui, as he states that he has set up some traps within the Seireitei, expecting the Quincy to attack again without warning, however out of all of the things, he was not expecting them to lose the territorial advantage that they had like this.
With this, Yhwach says that a thousand years ago, they lost the war and were left with nowhere else to go, and that is why they fled from the World of the Living into the Seireitei, a place where the Soul Reapers would least expect them to hide.
In addition to that, he also reveals that after that, they used Reishi to create space within the shadow of Seireitei, and called this invasion of Empire, the Wandenreich.

At the same time, we see Hiyosu asking them what is going on, where Akon says that the plan was a success, and unlike the World of the Living, the Soul Society is filled with Reichi, and that is what is their source of power.
Along with that, he also reveals that the thing that they could do were limitless, as they have spent a thousand years building up their strength.
