WWE fans? Would you ever turn down the chance to see Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther in a fight? Of course not. Turns out, Gunther wouldn’t either.
WWE star Gunther sat down with Steve Fell in a Ten Count Interview recently and dished on a possible fight between him and Roman Reigns, among many other things.
Gunther, originally named Walter Hahn, born in Vienna, is a pro wrestler who performs on the Raw brand under WWE. He made his wrestling debut in 2007 under Westside Xtreme Wrestling, a German wrestling promotion. He made his WWE debut in 2019 and now holds the WWE Intercontinental Championship title.
He holds the record for the longest reign as Intercontinental Champion in the 21st century, having surpassed a year of having held the title. Also called “The Ring General,” Gunther is known for his intense destructive style of fighting, which is aided by his three-hundred-pound body weight and height, which is definitely over six feet.
Roman Reigns is yet another pro wrestler under WWE, except he is American and performs on the SmackDown brand. Roman Reigns, originally Leati Joseph “Joe” Anoaʻi, is a memorable name as he has had a legendary WWE career with several titles under his belt. He is currently the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and holds the record for the longest reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. He also holds the record for the longest title reign in WWE history!
Obviously, a fight between the two legends is something fans have been dreaming about but has unfortunately never happened.

Gunther On Possible Fight With Roman Reigns
WWE star Gunther recently sat down with Steve Fell for a “Ten Count Interview” and talked about the upcoming SummerSlam, his WWE Intercontinental Championship title, a possible fight with Roman Reigns, and so on.
Surely, no one can ignore Gunther’s comment on a fight with Reigns because he commented on it, saying that it is not something that can be ruled out. While he is unsure of when we may be able to see the fight, he says that it may happen “down the line.” Steve Fell started the entire conversation centered around Reigns by bringing up WrestleMania 39, which happened back in April of this year.
WrestleMania 39 was the 39th edition of the annual WrestleMania and was held at the SoFi Stadium in California for Raw and SmackDown wrestlers. Spanning two nights and 15 fights, the event ended in Reigns defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Title by defeating Cody Rhodes. That particular event was the closest WWE has come to the possibility of a Gunther-Reigns fight. How, you ask? It was the closest because Gunther lost to Cody, who lost to Reigns. Had Gunther defeated Cody, we would have been able to witness an iconic battle between Reigns and Gunther.
Steve Fell brought up this exact point and put across a question. The question was regarding the change of events that may have taken place at the end of WrestleMania 39 if Gunther had defeated Cody and had the opportunity to be up against Roman Reigns.
He replied that the question was indeed a good question and that the fight would have been an interesting one. He then said that it would be an interesting fight to see “down the line.” He continued, talking about a possible fight between the two in the future.
He pointed out that he and Reigns are “very far apart from each other” in what they have to do because they are working on different brands. He then said that Roman is in a “never before seen title,” referring to his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and that he himself is in the process of making history with his IC Title. He went on, saying that once all of that is “said and done,” the fight is a very real possibility. He ended his response by saying that we just have to see what happens.

Gunther has spoken about a Roman Reigns fight previously, too, in an interview with WittyWhittier, where he was asked if he would want a storyline with any WWE star. He answered the question by saying that he does not have a particular list of stars as a response but mentioned Roman Reigns’ name as one star he would like to face.
With Reigns and Gunther both being such seasoned wrestlers with several title achievements and skills, fans would be thrilled to see Gunther and Roman in a storyline or fight sometime in the future. With Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque working as a chief content officer for WWE, things may change in terms of creative freedom for the wrestlers. They may be able to have freer discussions regarding their activities, and maybe, this will result in never before seen fights like the Gunther-Reigns fight!
