Based On A True Story Ending Explained
The main setup of the show, based on a true story, revolves around Ava and Nathan’s war planning to do a podcast along with the West Side Ripper. They ask Matt to accept the proposal when they find out about their identity because, according to Ava, she thinks that this podcast will be a huge moment for the crime podcast, and their life will be set up by that.
But their plan was not so easy because the road to the podcast was tough according to their plan, and then they released their first episode. It gained no audience and was a major flop. Then to become successful, mat ghost was a True crime convention, and then he asked the people who came there to listen to their podcast about the story of a woman that she has survived the killer.
And within no time, the podcast became ahead and became a sensation all over the world, but despite that, it brought some new issues, and Matt has gone to increase the confidence. By the end of the podcast, they thought about whether making a self-centered serial killer a star was a good idea or not.
They also faced criticism from some of the high-profile celebrities because of the immoral nature of the podcast on social media, and due to that, the website on which the podcast was hosted deleted that show. Ruby, a friend, found out that Matt was the killer, and she tried to go to the police until they brought her in and which increased their trouble.
But Matt doesn’t approve of her, and he founds Ruby before she can tell anyone about that cancer and leaves the body for Nathan and Ava so that they can clear that out.
Who Is The Original Killer?
The murderer in Based On A True Story is Matt Pierce, the plumber who was first introduced in episode 1. Chloe Lake, a barmaid who was murdered on the same night that Nathan and Matt, a plumber he rapidly became friends with, went to the bar where she worked, is the main focus of the first episode of the Peacock series.
The first episode’s plot develops as true crime enthusiast Ava starts to piece together details that implicate the recently arrived plumber and Nathan’s new buddy. Nathan is questioned by Ava about what he has discovered about Matt. He left his previous hometown lately when someone passed away in his building, and a simple online check found that a murder had occurred around the same time.
He was also seen leaving the pub shortly after Chloe. When they notice Matt with some horrible scratches on his arms that he claims were caused by his cat, only Nathan can confirm that he doesn’t own a cat, and the two find further evidence supporting their argument.
Then, the last piece of the puzzle falls into place when Ava and Nathan discover that a blue plastic boot cover, the exact kind Matt uses when performing plumbing work, was discovered at the crime scene, confirming their growing suspicions.
It is established that Matt is the murderer early in episode 2, but he waits until episode 3 to tell Ava and Nathan. In episode 2, we experience the events of Chloe’s murder through Matt’s perspective.
