Fans of true-crime documentaries were electrified to know the truth behind Candy Montgomery, a housewife accused of killing Betty Gore, her lover’s wife. Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and Clark Johson is based on the novel written by Jim Atkinson titled Evidence Of Love: A True Story Of Passion And Love. Created by David E. Kelly, the series was first released on April 27, 2023, and wrapped up on May 25, 2023.
Sunday Stevens produced the series under Blossom Films and Lionsgate Television Texas Monthly. Love and Death have seven episodes, with each having 45-58 lives, and Tim Lives did the suspenseful cinematography. Love and Death were brought to the audience by HBO Max, but it didn’t gain the same momentum as other true-crime series, including Jeffery Dahmer or Ted Bundy.
The performance of Elizabeth Olsen in the character of Candy was applauded by the audience as she portrayed the role conventionally. Viewers felt the series was unoriginal, as compared to the one released by Hulu with the same title. HBO Max gave the green light for the true-crime series to develop in May of 2021.

Tom Pelphery plays the role of Don Crowder, Elizabeth Marvel plays the role of Jackie Ponder, and Keir Gilchrist plays the role of Ron Adams in the lead cast.
The recurring cast of Love and Death stars Amelie Dallimore plays the role of Jenny Montgomery, Liam Pileggi plays the role of Ian Montgomery, Harper Heath plays the role of Alisa Gore, Olivia Applegate plays the role of Carol Crowder, Sara Burke plays the role of Barbara Green and Matthew Posey plays the role of Bob Pomeroy. The series showcased the sinister Candy walking free from the court after being proven not guilty due to her talent for lying and manipulation.

Love And Death- Premise
Love And Death focus on two churchgoing loving families who live in the town of Texas until things get messy, and one of them ends up killing the other with the help of the axe. The series starts with Candy Montgomery, a loving and happy wife, and mother who is dissatisfied with her life. Candy gets attracted to Allan, a fellow church member in a strained relationship with his wife.
Allan and Candy have meetings to discuss their relationship and the extent they would go for it, as eventually, Allan returns Candy’s feelings for him. Allan and Betty’s relationship gets strained after the couple starts struggling to conceive their second child. Jackie, Candy’s pastor, tried to dissuade her from beginning an affair to fail as Allan and Candy began their affair in December 1978.
Things continue peacefully for several months as Allan and Candy continue with their affair and eventually admit to falling in love with each other, something they never discussed. Despite having feelings as the two continue meeting each other, Allan begins to fall harder as being with Betty became difficult for him as she starts suffering from depression. Betty and Allan’s relationship improves after the couple goes to marriage counseling.
The Gores and Montgomerys distance themselves from each other after Pat discovers Candy’s affair with Allan and confronts her. The couple reconciles, but things take a turn for the worse after Betty suspects Allan and Candy of having an affair. On the day Candy comes to Betty’s house to pick up a swimsuit, Betty confronts her about having an affair with her husband, to which Candy admits.
In a rage, Betty picks up an axe to attack Candy. It is then shown Candy went to her house, changed her clothes, and resumed her day as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, Betty’s body is discovered by her neighbors after Allan contacts them, asking them to break down his door and see if Betty is fine. The series then follows the court case and the jury’s decision to set Candy free as it gets proven she acted in defense after Betty first attacked her. The series ends with Candy walking free and moving away to Georgia to start a new life with her husband after bidding Allan one last goodbye.
Love And Death Filming Locations-
1. Austin, Texas
Austin is a city located in Texas used by the production crew for Love and Death to film the prominent parts of the series. 9403 Queenswood Drive, located in Castlewood Forest, got used to filming the scenes with Gore’s house, with the house’s interior filmed on a soundstage. Saegert Middle School is used to film the Plainview Elementary School in the first episode.
The scenes with Allan and Candy ending their relationship are filmed at the June Hill Pape Riverwalk Trail located in Bastrop. Lil Charlie, located in Lockhart, was used by the crew to film the parts with Allan and Candy meeting several times to continue their affair. University Inn, located in San Marcos, was used by the production crew to film the parts of the series with Dallas Continental Inn.
The Cottonwood Inn Motel, located in La Grange, served as the filming location for the scenes with Candy and Allan having an affair. Inn Of The Hills, located in Kerrville, was used by the production team to film the parts of the film with the marriage counseling of Alan and Betty takes place. William Country Courthouse located in Georgetown was used by the crew to film the parts of the series with the court trial of the ongoing Candy’s case.
Paramount Theatre was used by the production crew to film the parts of the series where Candy takes her daughter to watch The Empire Struck. St. Peter’s Church was used by the production crew to film the part of the series where the exteriors of the church are shown while the interior is filmed in Hutto Luthern Church.
Aristocrat Lounge in Austin got used by the production crew to film the parts of the series with Cabdy’s dance sequence. ZDT’s Amusement Park was used by the production crew to film the parts of the series with the carnival scenes with Alan and Candy going on a rollercoaster ride. The Schultz School located in Seguin was used by the crew to film the parts of the series with Candy and Sherry going for a drink after a football game.
