The chapter starts with Veronica asking for forgiveness from Filone when she was having Tea with other ladies, Filone got confused that why is she apologizing to her after being so rude for a long time, she noticed something fishy about her apologizing, so she said Veronica that there is nothing to forgive her as all that was her mistake. Veronica left the room as her plan didn’t work against Filone. Rachel told everyone that it has gotten too late and everyone should go to sleep, but she told Filone to stay as she wanted to talk to her.
After everyone left the hall, she appreciated Filone as she see-through Veronica’s trap. She asked Filone about Duke but she didn’t know about the Duke. Filone asked her if she can return to her room as she got a bit tired after her journey. As Filone left the hall, Devonshire arrived at the hall, he told Rachel that he have a request for her.
While Filone was getting her hairstyle done by the maid, the maid told him about the queen selection at night party which was just invented recently. Filone didn’t know about it as she had not been in the capital for a long time. The maid explained to her that in queen selection, the woman who gets the highest vote from all the women becomes the party queen for a night. The elected queen can do whatever she wants until the party gets over.
After hearing about the queen’s election, Filone realized the reason why Lady Veronica acted sweet all of a sudden was due to the queen’s election. The maid left after she finished doing her hair. As the maid left the room, Killian arrived to talk with Filone. Filone asked him about his hunt and if he going to make something for her with the foxes he killed on the hunt. Killian replied he isn’t as there were no foxes in the forest.
