The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1- Filming Locations
For part one of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, the shooting initially began on the streets of Atlanta in the year 2013. However, only one location was not enough to shoot such a high-budget fiction film series. So after having some shots in Atlanta, the team moved outside of the city and eventually outside of the country.
One of the significant locations that you should travel to if you are in Atlanta is President Snow’s villa, Swan House. Many of the exteriors and some interiors were filmed at this amazing, neo-classical house, which is built by one of the prominent architects, Philip T. Shutze in the year 1928. But Swan House is not the only location that became part of President Snow’s house; the team then moved their filming to Paris at Chateau De Voisins (built in the 17th century, now known as BNP Paribas), to shoot the interiors for the house.
In Atlanta, various locations, such as the place where President Coin tries persuading Katniss to become a Mockingjay and the place where she lives after catching fire, also many of the places of District 13, were part of a big set built in Atlanta. Apart from this, the team traveled to Germany, specifically to continue filming at Karftwork Berlin, a power plant that was then renovated as an event venue. The place is depicted as a weapons lab for Katniss and her team.

Finally, coming back to Atlanta, the unusual staircase in District 13 which was used to have the survivors out, is one of the Hunger Games: Mockingjay locations that fans have been looking for. This staircase is not situated anywhere in the world, because it was actually an artificial set that was created in Garage, based in Georgia, Atlanta.
