Very well familiar with a hero dying and reincarnating or dying and getting transferred to a different world, right? Well, in this story, Dead Mount Death Play, things are a little different because here, the villain is the one who gets reincarnated.

The story begins with a fight between the Corpse God, a necromancer without any peer, and the Calamity Crusher. The fight is deathly. The Corpse God dies but, however, reincarnates and also time travels to reach the early twenty-first century Japan’s Shinjuku.

The Corpse God reincarnates as Polka Shinoyama. All he wants is a peaceful, quiet life once and for all, and Shinjuku seems like the best place so far. But, little does he know that Shinjuku has other ideas. One of his least problems is earning money.

As we know that the Corpse God is a necromancer, and he draws the attention of Shinjuku’s police and troublemakers alike due to his necromancy. All this has everything to do with the real Polka Shinoyama, from his powerful family to the matter of his murder.

All this stands in the way of our Corpse God, but he is determined, or maybe more than determined to live a peaceful life at any cost. He swears to live a peaceful life no matter what it takes or however long it takes.

Previously on Dead Mount Death Play Chapter 98: Recap

We witnessed in the previous episode/chapter how Momoya Agakura slashes the chest of a beast approaching behind him, and the wound regenerates. Then Kana Agakura gives Dahlia Agakura the order to connect the two animals that she has already secured around a support beam and a pipe.

Yumeji finally succeeds in leaving the area and proceeds down a hallway as she wonders how long the creatures had been hiding in the hospital because no one had found them during earlier police inspections. He realizes that the cops might be involved in some way.

Yumeji beams his torch down another corridor and notices two empty cartons outside of what turns out to be an emergency supply storage closet. Since the bottles in the cartons are the most recent models, they had to have been sent to the hospital this year. Yumeji makes the assumption that they relate to his predecessor.

Yumeji considers whether a typical person would keep looking for the stairs or stop to assist the despairing woman before recalling how Polka Shinoyama had stopped when they were younger out of worry for Yumeji’s safety. Yumeji murmurs to himself that Polka was likely weird himself.

The woman cries as she says that she and her friend went to the hospital looking for a corpse. She is slightly relieved when Yumeji presents himself as a typical high school student. Yumeji responds, “Don’t worry about your friend here; she called me to assist you”. The young girl sobs in terror. “Y-You can’t! Don’t! She’s…! She’s not…! Sh-she’s…”

The friend’s face breaks into a smile that breaks into a gaping maw and reveals pointy teeth. The sanctuary is completed by Corpse God, and a magical wave then spreads to encompass the hospital. From Katashiro’s viewpoint, he is currently becoming entangled in crazy work.

The bottles in the cartons are presumably not for the carnivorous beasts, at least, so a question still remains: Who are these for? Based on these smallest of the smallest observations, we can see that a lot of things don’t match, which means that there is a huge mystery waiting to be revealed in front of our eyes.
