This is probably because he hasn’t cared about anything other than food and his friends ever since he was little. Never did anyone think the mysteries around him would get this serious, and many questions would be surrounded regarding this character.
One of the most famous questions regarding Luffy is his origin regarding his parents. Earlier fans of One Piece were never quite interested in knowing facts about Luffy’s origin and followed his adventure along the way until the background about him became quite interesting.
The most interesting thing that the fans have been learning about him was the fact about the meaning of the “D” in his name.
Moving forward, at the end of the Ennies Lobby, we are highly surprised by the fact that Luffy’s grandfather is none other than a famous and heroic, Vice Admiral of the Navy while Luffy’s father is the most wanted man in this world as he is revealed to be the leader of the Revolutionary Army, Monkey D Dragon.
Even after this, fans had many theories about the relationship between Garp and Dragon, not relating them to be father and son but rather only something else. Nevertheless, it was resolved, but fans still have many questions left regarding Luffy’s origin.
Fans wonder who is the woman who gave birth to this goofy revolutionary child, and since we haven’t even got a hint, the speculation on the possibility of who could be Luffy’s mother still continues.
Well, we are jumping on this question, and this is the list of people that we think could be Luffy’s mother. With that being said, here are one of many questions from One Piece that tried to be answered.

Ginny; The newest contender to being Luffy’s mom
Currently, One Piece is on the streak of revealing things and still showcasing new characters, as Oda is quite still not done with One Piece and its character. One of the famous incidents in the One Piece series is the matter with the God Valley, which was described recently in the One Piece series and with it, newer characters came such as Ginny.
Ginny was the sole orchestrator of the God Valley incident by sending out the information about this. This character has a similar vibe to Luffy, and thus, fans had speculated that she could be it, but it was never confirmed. However, she is Bonney’s mother, and fans still speculate that she could be Dragon’s lover, given that she was the prettiest among the revolutionary army.
Crocodile is still the strongest contender based on the fan theories
New One Piece fans or fans who are not too much into the series and are following the series only on a weekly basis and not diving too much into series would be baffled by the idea that Crocodile could be Luffy’s mother because, after all, the former is a man.
Well, this theory started to get highlighted when Crocodile and Ivankok’s relationship came to the surface during the impel down arc, and how nervous the former was with the latter teasing him of something.
Since then, fans have been speculating how Crocodile was a woman before and had relations with Dragon and then turned into a man. As ridiculous as this idea is, Crocodile is still the strongest contender on this list.
Big Mom’s Desire to expand her lineage could have extended to Luffy
Charlotte Linlin, going by the infamous name “Big Mom,” has as much possibility as Crocodile, considering there is never a sure evidence on who could be Luffy’s mom. Luffy being Big Mom’s child is ridiculous, but hear me out first.
Big Mom’s desire, besides being one of the most powerful entities on the sea, was to extend her family and be the mom to their children. We have seen how Big Mom has procreated with different races to make a family that consists of various different breeds.
This supports our theory of also having a child or two that she may have forgotten about. In addition, Big Mom seemed to be very beautiful when she was younger, and it is possible that she could have a romantic relationship with the leader of the revolutionary army back then that produced Luffy.
An Inspiration to Shanks who helped Shanks Raise Uta
The fan speculation on who Luffy’s mother might be has gone up to many different levels, and some fans believe that it is also a possibility that the woman who inspired Shanks to stop Uta from crying is the one.
Oda has drawn many different additional stories from SBS volumes on many other occasions. One of them includes a story of how a woman carrying a black-haired child who looks like child Luffy, sings to the child to make him stop crying, and Shanks uses the same technique on Uta in these extra pages.
Given that Oda has also said that he had already drawn Luffy’s mother in an interview, and while fans think that he was goofing around, one might consider him to be serious.
A nameless and unspoken Revolutionary Army member
Adding to this interview that sees Oda saying that he has already drawn Luffy’s parents, fans have speculated to see a particular member from the army. Oda in a recent interview revealed that he would draw Luffy’s parents in the next volume and when this volume came out, some deep One Piece fans speculated that this woman is Luffy’s mother.
As mentioned earlier, this character is a nameless member of the revolutionary army who happens to wear a hat and seems close to Dragon. We are not sure what kind of relationship Dragon has with his members or even if he was married or not, and until it is revealed, we could speculate that he would have had a romantic relationship with this member.
Koala is one of the closet Revolutionary members of the Dragon
While we are speculating on whether Dragon could have had a romantic relationship with a close revolutionary member or not, Koala seems to fit this theory a lot, and we are here to talk more about this theory until Oda has to say something about this otherwise.
Koala is one of the prominent Revolutionary members, and she was seen taking part in one of the most famous incidents created by the Revolutionary members.
Her age is not revealed, and she does not seem to be a teenager’s mom, but she is close to Dragon and has been with him long enough to support this theory.
Curly Dadan – A Noted Mother To Luffy
If Oda isn’t going to reveal who exactly is Luffy’s birth mom, our speculation will go as far as to fit Dadan on this list because, to be honest, there aren’t many contenders that could fit this criterion as Oda has done absolutely nothing to give a hint on the origin of Luffy’s mother.
So the question is, could Curly Dadan be Luffy’s mother? Well, if you have watched One Piece, then you might know the answer to this question is NO. However, we are aware that she is the closest to what Luffy had as a mother, just like Ace and, infact, Sabo, even though his mother was revealed.
Dadan treated the boys as hard as she could, but no matter what, she loved them all the same and was the closest thing that Luffy could wonder what a mother is like.
A Celestial Dragon could be Luffy’s Mom
Last but not least, another fan theory suggests that a Celestial Dragon could be Luffy’s mom. This theory goes on to speculate Dragon’s motive for becoming a revolutionary army as well. The theory suggests that during his time in the Marines, Dragon fell in love with a Celestial Dragon, and they had a child together, Luffy.
After the other Celestial Dragons came to know that a fellow Celestial Dragon came to marry a common Marine officer, she was imprisoned or, at worst, punished to death. This is the reason Dragon left the Marines and became a revolutionary to claim his lover back, who could still be alive or exact revenge on her.
Well, this was our list of speculating on who could be Luffy’s mother despite there being no evidence of them. So far, I think that we won’t ever get to know who is Luffy’s mom at all, or Dragon could indeed be the key to revealing that.
