Billion Dollar Company ‘Activision Blizzard’ steals indie artist’s design for COD Vanguard

Call of Duty developer Activision Blizzard allegedly plagiarized COD Vanguard Samoye Skin in the Floof Fury tracer pack. The scandalous allegation came to light on Twitter after the creator of the original design showed the striking similarities between his original art and the cosmetics that COD Vanguard was promoting. And this spread like wildfire amongst the gaming community, strongly condemning what Activision Blizzard did.

The author of the original art posted an image and a tweet comparing his original work to the Floof Fury Tracer Pack available in Call of Duty, and the reactions to it are vast. And if you think this is outrageous, regrettably, it’s not the first time it has happened. Activision Blizzard Allegedly Plagiarized COD Vanguard Samoye Skin

The original artist claims Activision plagiarized his work to the very smallest details.

Concept artist Sailin5 posted his original artwork in Artstation, and it’s part of a collection of animals wearing military gear. In his collection, he has a wolf, a fox, a kitty, a tiger, and two human figures, a picture of urban landscapes, and some concept art for weapons. Moreover, his trajectory in creating content of this style goes way back if you check his profile. So, imagine his outrage when he sees that Activision Blizzard takes his work and, without any credit, puts it on Call Of Duty as cosmetic skin.

If you look at the image pictured above, the similarities are striking regarding species, bandana, boots, coat, and backpack. When Sailin5 posted his tweet, he wrote, “he has to explain that matter.” Still, he’s unsure who to talk to regarding the alleged copyright infringement. When he takes up that legal course, it will be a David vs. Goliath battle, as Activision would employ a vast army of lawyers to settle the matter out of court and compensate him in a plea bargain, as these issues usually end up.

Sailin5 Expects Compensation

For Sailin5, he expects to be compensated for his work; he claims he’s reached out to Activision for an explanation and wishes to reach out to the media so his case can be heard. He expects the situation to be settled soon because he plays Call of Duty and wishes these kinds of things stop happening.

And It’s Not The First Time They’re Accused Of  Plagiarizing A Skin

Back in 2021, Activision saw another scandal of alleged plagiarism from a character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a character called “Cade Janus” was the center of a dispute for the COD developer employing key aspects of its image for the Mara character that included pose, weapons, gender, hair color, gear, and makeup. Essentially, Activision ripped off the character, and the matter went to court. Can Activision’s 3D artists be a little original? Or at least pay artists for their work instead of strong-arming them into accepting petty money for their work? We can only wait and see how this issue goes. That’s all the information we have for the moment on this issue. Thanks for your attention. Happy gaming, and see you soon!
