The anime community is uniting to support one of its cherished stars. Recently, a GoFundMe campaign was launched for Rachael Lillis, a voice actor well-known to Pokémon fans. This fundraiser aims to cover home health care expenses for Lillis as she battles breast cancer.
Lillis’ condition has worsened, with the cancer spreading to her spine, making walking almost impossible. Since January, she has been residing in a nursing home in Los Angeles, but the busy environment has made it difficult for her to rest.
Her sister, Laurie Orr, shared on GoFundMe, “I’m trying to raise funds for my sister Rachael Lillis, who needs either personal care at home or an Assisted Living facility where she can receive daily care and medication.”
So far, the GoFundMe campaign has raised over $67,000. In a recent update, the campaign noted, “For Rachael, it has been so emotionally moving & she feels honored to have had this outpouring of love and support from everyone. It amazes us that so many have been so kind in their support, and we give sincere thanks to you all!”
Rachael Lillis is best known for her roles as Jessie of Team Rocket and Misty in Pokémon. Her impressive voice-acting portfolio also includes notable projects like Revolutionary Girl Utena, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, and Boogiepop Phantom.
