What Is The Clearing About?
The Clearing is an Australian psychological thriller starring Amanda Palmer, Guy Pearce, Miranda Otto, and Julia Savage, based upon a novel called “In The Clearing” by J.P. Pomare. The story tells us the troubles that a woman must face after she stumbles upon a dark cult that kidnaps children. Not only must she deal with the abductors, but she also faces pressures from law enforcement and her own troubled past. The show was developed by Elise McCredie and Matt Cameron, it’s executively produced by Elizabeth Bradley and Richard Finlayson, and it’s an eight-part miniseries that will make its way to Disney+ and Hulu this week. The Clearing Trailer Breakdown
The Clearing trailer’s ambiance gives us a lot of what’s ahead; we begin with a woman entering an abandoned house, alternating with shots of the police scouting the shores of a lake for a missing person. Meanwhile, we hear the voices of two girls reciting a prayer; they’re in the back of a car as it heads somewhere gloomy. A woman is looking at them from the rearview mirror.
After that, several cut scenes show us the dark ambiance of what’s ahead, only to show us later a conversation between an older woman and one of the girls as they sit in front of a fireplace. A cult is holding children, the cops are on the search for missing children, and a troubled woman seems to be the key to the disappearance of these children. But she must face a tough challenge before the abducted children are returned to their parents.
