The sad part came in when Lauren’s body was discovered inside the back of a car on October 22, 2018. But here the question comes what eventually led to her death?
In October 2018, Lauren began receiving some very unknown texts from a suspicious number, which she believed came from her boyfriend Melvin Rowland and his friends. Lauren and Rowland dated for almost a month after when she discovered that he lied to her about his name and age, which resulted in their break up ultimately.
Lauren believed that she was dating 28-year-old Sean after when she later discovered that she was dating 37-year-old Melvin Shawn Rowland, who was a convicted sex offender. And in those messages that Lauren received on her phone, she was threatened that if she did not post her private photos on the internet, she and her ex-boyfriend would be murdered.
She later went on to the Universities Police cell about the messages that they, on the other hand, admitted that they did not have proper resources to investigate the possible threat. This all resulted in Lauren, who was later found shot to death in her car.

Lauren’s boyfriend was Melvin Rowland, who lied to her about his age and even about his name and age. He claimed to Lauren that he was a 28-year-old boy named Sean, who was a college-going student at Utah University when in reality, he was a sex offender and a 37-year-old.
When Lauren came to realize the truth about Rowland’s real personality and profession, she immediately broke up with him, but that did not stop.
Melvin blackmailed her by giving her his private photos and uploading them on the internet, and when Lauren became panicked with the things that were going on in her life, she immediately went to the university’s police booth, but they also neglected his concern.
And ultimately, that led to her death. When the police came to find that Rowland was the murderer of Lauren, police chased him to the church, where he shot and killed himself.

Now that Utah University has taken strict actions to buckle up students’ safety within the campus, Matt, Lauren’s father, is going to sue the university for their carelessness which resulted in his daughter getting brutally shot by the criminal.
