Tengoku Daimakyou is a story surrounding a bunch of kids from two different timelines. In the first one, we see a facility for gifted kids, Takahara Academy, that acts as a boarding school of sorts. The second is a post-apocalyptic world overrun by creatures called Hiruku or Man-Eaters. There we are introduced to the manga’s protagonists, Kiruko and Maru.
Maru hired Kiruko as his bodyguard/escort on a mission to find his twin /doppelganger and to give him medicine. Kiruko is on a mission of her own. She is looking for Dr. Sakota, the one who saved her life. The story might seem mellow at first, but soon you will realize that the two storylines are intertwined in a very twisted way. And that is not the most shocking fact.
The Hiruko are revealed to be the students of the Academy. The students there were genetically modified humans bred to become hosts for the staff at the Academy. Their Principal, Shino, was the mastermind behind it all. The Hiruko has been on the planet for a very long time and is virtually immortal. Shino wanted to use them to create an immortal body for herself.
However, the students would eventually succumb to some unknown disease. And after their death, they would turn into the monsters we see in the second storyline. The medicine with Maru seems to be a cure for this disease. Giving his counterpart the drug might be the only way to save him from the inevitable fate that is waiting for all the modified children. Before heading in a quick disclaimer, there are major spoilers ahead. Read at your discretion.
Tengoku Daimakyou Recap – What To Know Before Reading Chapter 56?
Kiruko fulfilled her mission of finally finding Dr. Sakota. Now he finally has some closure about what happened that day. According to Dr. Sakota, when they were brought to him, Haruki was in critical condition while Kiruko was brain dead. There he was, about to lose the lives of two kids. He did the only thing he could. He did a full-body transplant.
He translated Haruki’s brain into Kiruko. Kiruko argued that the last he saw the original Kiruko was unharmed. However, the Dr reveals that when she was brought in, she had a bullet wound on her head. The story was corroborated by the wound Maru found back in Chapter 1. With some closure at hand, Kiruko goes to check on Maru.
Maru was severely injured during his fight against Takezuka Michika. He has been asleep for the past three days. On that day, he woke up and was ready for his next fight, which was the Hiruko Anjulous. Since he is the only person who can truly kill one of them, he does not hesitate a second. While heading out, they run into Dr. Sakota again. Maru recognizes him from Kiruko’s photograph.
And to his surprise, Dr. Sakota recognized him back. He calls him Yamato, revealing the existence of another with the same face as Maru. After further questioning, it was revealed that Yamato is his twin brother and that their parents were Tokio and Kona. Maru was lost during the great calamity and presumed dead. Then Kiruko, Maru, along with Dr. Sakota head toward Anjulous.
The battlefield is nothing short of a massacre. The hiruko’s healing ability is giving them a tough time. Furthermore, human weapons cannot kill them anyway, so they are fighting a losing battle. But with Maru, it’s a different play. They arrive on the scene and strategize with the others. For Maru to do his things, they have to immobilize it. So far, their attempts have been unsuccessful.
For Maru to be able to do his thing peacefully, they must sever all eight of the Anjulous’s tentacles. But its lightning ability is preventing people from getting close to it. Dr. Sakota, with his research, came up with a solution. He found out that plain mirrors can reflect Anjulous’s lightning, and he demonstrates it. But to everyone’s shock, it did not work.
That was because it was not designed to work. It was just a way for Dr. Sakota to use himself as a human bomb. He strapped several grenades onto his chest, and as he was being absorbed, he pulled the pins. Giving everyone a thumbs up, he blew himself up along with half of the Anjulous. With no time to mourn, Kiruko jumps into action.
With her Murder Ray Gun, she shot off 3 of the four remaining tentacles. With that, Maru leaps into action and invades it. He was successful, and right as he was about to crush its core, he felt himself being pulled back. Back in reality, he realizes that the remaining tentacle caught him, and he is about to be absorbed too. We see Kiruko off to the side, yelling his name but to no avail.
Tengoku Daimakyou Spoilers & Predictions – What To Expect From Chapter 56?
Tengoku Daimakyou Chapter 55 ended on a grim note. Maru was caught by the Anjulous, and once you have been caught, there is no way to save you. Be that it may, Kiruko will not let that happen. This is the time we need that lucky 4th shot, and something tells me Kiruko will be able to pull that off.
So she will likely shoot off that tentacle saving Maru and leaving the Anjulous immobile. Now that it’s immobile, Maru can work his magic, and the world can finally be rid of that gruesome monster who was the cause of soo much suffering on what was left of humanity.
