Deadpool is one of the most entertaining characters in the Superheroes world, but at the same time, many fans of the genre think that he has killed all the Heroes and villains as well, and today we are gonna answer why did Deadpool kill the Marvel Universe.
His trademark sarcasm and knack for cracking outlandish jokes have made Deadpool one of Marvel Comics’ most popular and most recognizable figures of all time. Since his humble beginnings, the merc with a mouth has gone from a snarky underground D-lister to a record-shattering box-office superstar.
However the key to a great character is not popularity, it’s the depth, and though the anti-hero’s comedic dispositioning and wise-cracking ways have taken him from the fringes out into the spotlight, it is Deadpool’s tragic origin and violent proclivities that keep the character from becoming just another costume comedian.
Perhaps no treatment of Deadpool has ever explored the range of the character quite so boldly or unapologetically kill the Marvel Universe. From writer Cullen Benin, and artist Dalibor Talajic this four-issue mini-series takes the lovable regenerating degenerate and unleashes the depths of his depravity onto the Marvel Universe.
Wade Wilson has finally snapped and no one is safe!!
Why Did Deadpool Kill The Marvel Universe?
Where else would Deadpool’s dissection of his universe starts than with Marvel’s very own first family the Fantastic Four!! Our sordid tell opens up with Susan Storm, cradling her dying husband in her arms.
Amidst the rubble and carnage of the, once utopic Baxter building Mr. Fantastic struggles to look up at his wife. As his structural integrity fails him Reed weakly whispers to say that he has managed to save their two children by sealing them within the Negative Zone, safe but never to return.
How Deadpool Destroyed the Fantastic Four
Mr. Fantastic’s body begins to lose any semblance of the tension and the genius known as Reed Richard melts into a pile of bones and loose skin. Despite her grief at the loss of her husband and children, she invisibly takes off in pursuit of her family’s murderer.
Later, she finds the perpetrator but not fast enough to prevent the merc with a mouth from slitting the Human Torch’s throat. When Johnny’s blood splashes against his sister’s invisible for, she loses all semblance of restraint.
The final surviving member of the Fantastic Four expands a force field inside of Wade Wilson’s head until it explodes. Though when she turns her back, Wade Wilson reminds her of an important truth while he stabs a sword through her spine.
With this, he says that you don’t run with scissors, you don’t spit into the wind and you never ever turn your back on a dead enemy, especially not with the enemy who has a healing power.
The main question that arises with this is what could have sent Marvel’s favorite flunky on such a murderous and joyless rampage.
Why Psychoman Tortured Deadpool
Well, as the story travels a few days back, we see a group under the direction of Charles Xavier entering the Revencroft Asylum with a restrained Deadpool in tow. Professor X explains to his gathered students that Wade needs help that they cannot provide, and he can only hope that he will find the care that he needs at that place.
Safe to say, Charles would soon come to regret his decision to outsource the responsibility for caring for Deadpool. Especially since the doctor who took over Wade was none other than Psychoman, resonating therapist.
The microscopic mad scientist saw within Deadpool the horrifying possibility of unending violence and slaughtering. That is when he decides to try to trap Deadpool’s true potential.
In only there the first session, Psuchoman would inflict such pain on the body and brain of Wade Wilson, until he quite literally cracks. Who can say exactly what about Psychoman’s torture finally shattered Deadool’s psyche!!
Perhaps it was the raw, unimaginable pain coursing through the regenerating degenerated body and mind, or perhaps it was the unendurable tragedy of it all. Wade once again finds himself trapped and abandoned under an abusive thumb of an evil and psychotic torturer.
Deadpool’s Comeback
Just as the Weapon X program had treated him when Wade Wilson first became Deadpool. Whatever it was, that broke Deadpool he finally manages to stand after the excruciating episode.
The comedic and lighthearted voices in the murk’s head would have vanished and only one voice remained and that was the new voice.
Dark and Sinister whispering in Deadpool’s ear, filling his head with dreams of violence and slaughter.
Wade wastes no time in bashing Psychoman to a bloody pulp against the table and doesn’t stop there, the ominous new voice tells Deadpool that he knows who he is as he has been waiting for him and he has killed one of them, and he should finish the job.
The merc with a mouse calmly fills the Ravenscroft Asylum with gasoline and leaves the rest of the inmates to burn alive in their cells.
Meanwhile, the Watcher arrives at the Storm’s murdered body and as the alien sadly sums up for the audience the story so far, Deadpool uses stolen Fantastic Four to render the cosmic observer paralyzed.
Now Deadpool growls as he draws his blade to the Watcher’s throat, he says that he only wants to know one thing and asks him who was Deadpool talking to. The Watcher points to the fourth wall itself towards us, the readers. Deadpool unceremoniously relieves the giant head from Watcher’s shoulders and stalks off into the night, his mind already plotting his next kill.
How Deadpool Destroyed Spiderman
Deadpool’s Murderous Rampage has upped its ante by the beginning of his Second Issue, where we learned via a new report that the merc with a mouth has successfully slain the Ghost Rider, Dr. Doom, and various members of the Superhero Community.
Deadpool’s current victim is none other than the spectacular Spiderman, engaged in a battle hundreds of feet above the New York City streets, Deadpool and Spidy dance a dangerous tango.
Of course, Spiderman is the only one between the two, some way of staying aloft so Deadpool hits the concrete with a sickening, Spidy lowers his guard as he lifts Wade by the scruff of his costume and starts lecturing him all the lives he has mercilessly taken.
Deadpool is hardly listening though, instead, he is bringing his sidearm up to Spidey’s chin and pulling its trigger, without an ounce of regret. In clear view of New Yorkers, he had protected for so long.
The bullet rips a bullet in the side of Peter Parker’s face and the friendly neighborhood Spiderman is no more. During their battle, however, Deadpool let slip something significant.
When Spidey yells that he is lucky and he won’t kill him for what he has done, Deadpool wheezes back to cracked lungs, “Am I? Do you think that they will let you break your character even if you are the one who actually wants it to?”
This one clip underlines something essential about Deadpool’s Rampage. Fourth Wall breaking has always been as vital to Deadpool as Chimichanga, but Wade’s broken mind has now warped his perspective beyond recognition.
No longer does he apathetically amuse himself by referencing the fact that he lives within a comic? Now, he sees his panels as his “Jell Cells”.
Deadpool understands that there is something insidious about the nature of a comic book, “You don’t control your own life but it is controlled by the writers”. By killing his character across the storybook universe Deadpool sees himself saving them from an existence of servitude and bondage at the hands of their creators.
When Deadpool fresh off killing Peter Parker, begins planning his next hit, the voice in his head argues to keep it simple. He says that it is a spectacle that they want and that is why he doesn’t have to play their game anymore.
To which Deadpool replies that he thinks that he has already proven that he broke those chains, otherwise they would never have killed their beloved Spiderman.
Untethered from the whims of his creators, Deadpool sets off to tell his own story, written in blood. To prove his commitment to cause, Deadpool sees no better next target than Marvel’s mightiest heroes. That’s right!! The Avengers themselves are next on the merc with a mouth hitlist.
How Deadpool Destroyed The Avengers
Amazingly Deadpool’s plan goes off without a hitch It’s probably the cleanest and most coldly calculated attack, the Avengers have ever faced and they never stood a chance.
The regenerating degenerate steals a healthy supply of PYM Particles, shrinks down enough explosives to blow a hole in the Eastern Seaboard, and hides the Microscopic Arsenal in plain sight, right on top of the Avengers Meeting Table.
When Earth’s burliest heroes, meet to discuss the ongoing Deadpool problem, they don’t realize that they have already lost. The fireball that engulfs the Avengers mansion is enough to disintegrate Steve Rogers and Tony Stark in an instant.
