Set in ancient Greece, the game takes its inspiration from greek mythology and is based very loosely upon it. Chronologically the game is set ten years before the actual God of Wars and six months post when Kratos killed his parents.

God of War

The player gets to explore the various regions and areas like the Prison of Damned, the village Kirra, the ancient and holy home to the Oracle, Delphi, and the island of Delos. Kratos, who is on a quest to become the champion of gods, must go through tests and obstacles to achieve what he desires.

39. God of War: Ragnarök

The ninth installment of the God of War franchise and also the ninth chronologically, which is loosely based on Norse mythology, was published in 2022 for Playstation 4 and 5 by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Set in ancient Scandinavia, with the same protagonist Kratos who is along with his teenage son Atreus. The game doesn’t only have combat, puzzles, and role-playing elements with Kratos’s signature weapons, such as a magical battle axe and double-chained blades.

The game had seen several improvements compared to its predecessors and was critically acclaimed for its visuals, storytelling, and overall character development.

40. Genshin Impact

Not forgetting the anime fans here, the game Genshin Impact is a great pick for them. Developed and published by miHoYo in 2020 for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, iOS, and Andriod and later on for Playstation 5 in 2021, it is an anime fantasy-based open-world environment game. 

The game has an action-based battle system that uses elemental magic, and one can also switch between characters in the game.
