Kanye West Has Changed His Name To Ye: Here Is Why
It was in June 2018 when Kanye West released his eighth studio album, Ye. Since then, he decided to name himself Ye, which is also the last two alphabets of his real name. The release also signifies and reflects who we are. That is somehow related to his name as well.
In an interview, Kanye shared that Ye is the most commonly used word in the Bible. In addition to this, the rapper also said that there, Ye refers to ‘You.’ To be more precise, it’s the plural form of You and not singular, though. On this note, he said, “So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us.” He went on to share that Kanye means the only one, and changing that to Ye is nothing but the reflection of everyone’s good and bad.
On 24 August, he filed a petition to change his name. But then, he cited the reason to be personal. The Los Angeles Superior Court approved his petition to change his name to Ye, with no middle or last name. No objections were aroused. So, now, he isn’t Kanye Omari West but just Ye.
People are pretty much aware of Ye’s divorce from the renowned socialite Kim Kardashian. But she didn’t ask for any name change. This divorced couple is blessed with four children. They also use his last name, West.
