Real Reason Behind Maggie Leaving The Walking Dead Revealed
Lauren Cohen, who plays the role of Maggie Rhee in The Walking Dead, left the series in Season 9. Fans were never able to digest her exit as Maggie did not receive a proper sendoff as many other characters did. In the show, it was revealed that Maggie had left to help Georgie build communities in other areas, but the fact that she did not return for important sequences in the series post baffled the fans and left them wondering about the real cause of her absence. It was later reported that the actress Lauren Cohen left the show due to salary-related disputes and also because she was cast in another Tv series Whiskey Cavalier.
On-screen, it was revealed that Maggie had gone on to build communities with Georgie but later returned in Season 10. Off-script, the actress was locked-in in a fiery dispute with the producers over equal pay/salary with respect to the male actors of the show. The other show, Whiskey Cavalier, got canceled after just 13 episodes, and Lauren agreed to return for the 10th Season of The Walking Dead as Maggie since Maggie had not been killed off on-screen and was well alive in the story. Since then, Maggie has come back and has become an integral part of the series once again after missing an entire season. She returned at the end of Season 10 and has been a regular in the 11th season of the series. The 17th episode of the 11th season is set to release on October 2, 2022, after a long break of almost six months.
