In the previous chapter, that is Chapter 36 of World’s Strongest Troll, Jaeyeong is excited to see the changes in the witch hunt quest as he receives a notification for it. He opens the quest details only to find he has to fulfill several other smaller quests, which will take a long time.
As Angel and Tan are bickering and fighting, Jaeyeong interrupts them and tells Tan that if he wants to help the Evil camp, he has to head on over there. As the others wonder what prize they will get for defeating the Black Mage and make plans to end her soon as they distribute the reward, the Black Mage accepts her fate and closes her eyes.
She is then shocked to see that Tan arrived just in time to save the Black Mage, who is out of power and is surrounded. The Black Mage gets a pop-up notification saying that she has met the oldest darkness; though she had her guesses about Tan not being a regular NPC, she cannot wrap her head around it.
Tan instructs her to stay there. He then goes and defeats all the others and comes back to Black Mage, who recognizes him as Satan and greets him with great formality. She praises him, and that makes him happy.
He tells her to leave the fact that even though she is the strongest, it is nothing because she gets defeated by humans regardless. He asks her to do something. She is confused by this. He names her as the Symbol of Evil, and the chapter ends there.
